Waking up to the second meal service. I aimed for the sea this time, and explored the white being offered. Like the red, these are high grade aromatic wines, but I doubt if some passengers would prefer something drier.

ตื่นมาเจออาหารมื้อที่สองครับ คราวนี้ขออาหารทะเลบ้าง ก็เลยลองมาดูไวน์ขาวที่มีเสิร์ฟ ก็เป็นไวน์หอมคุณภาพดีเหมือนกับไวน์แดงละครับแต่ผมไม่แน่ใจว่าบางท่านอาจจะชอบไวน์ที่ค่อยนข้าง “ดราย” กว่านี้สักหน่อย

The lobster was a bit too thick and cold, and the parma ham too. Temperature could have been better maintained for such cold dish, even a cold appetizer cannot be too cold.


ทั้งพาร์มาแฮมและลอบเสตอร์ชิ้นหนาไปหน่อย และเย็นเกินไปครับน่าจะระวังเรื่องอุณหภูมิมากว่านี้หน่อยแม้แต่อาหารเรียกน้ำย่อยจานเย็นก็ไม่ควรจะเย็นเกินไปนะครับ

Nonetheless the Lobster Bisque that followed made me forget its unfortunate cold cousin. Mouthful lobster of honorable sizes and the cream was neither too thick nor salty.

Similar to the tournedo, THAI maintains the reputation of healthy diet, i.e. not too much. The salmon was fine, but the roast naturally wasn't fresh and I was hoping for something more crisps. But considering the long haul flight, I was satisfied.


การบินไทยคงคุณภาพอาหารได้ค่อนข้างดีในครั้งนี้ พร้อมนโยบายสุขภาพชิ้นไม่ใหญ่อิ่มพอดี แซลมอนอร่อยดีครับ แต่ก็ยังไม่ perfect เสียทีเดียว แต่ก็แน่นอนว่ามันไม่ได้ปรุงสดๆบนเครื่องก็เลยไม่รู่สึก"กรอบนุ่ม" อย่างที่ผมหวัง แต่ก็อย่างว่ามันเป็นไฟลท์ระยะไกล ได้แค่นี้ผมก็พอใจมากแล้วครับ

For the dessert, the menu says Fruit Crumble with Vanilla Sauce. The asked the flight attendant about the sauce but it wasn't on the actual serving. Having some doubts with the thick crust, I made a faithful dive under its top and then realized this fine cake was great on its own; there was no need for more cream or sauce. Lightly sweet and fruity crisps on the palette.

Having an hour or so left before landing, I opted for some current events updates, but for a moment the First Class cabin was cut out from the world. This needs to be addressed especially with no wifi or live radio on board.


มีเวลาเหลืออยู่ชั่วโมงกว่าๆ ผมลองดูช่องข่าว updateโลกภายนอกสักนิด แต่ไม่มีให้ครับ First Class Cabinของเราถูกโดดเดี่ยว การบินไทยน่าจะดูแบเรืองนี้ให้ดีนะครับโดยเฉพาะเมื่อไม่มี Wifi หรือวิทยุบนเครื่อง

Having only a map to watch I could only wonder what was going on on the ground. I skipped the movies fearing for a post-1080p syndrome, but then saw a Robbie Williams concert, and gave this talented artist a try. The 23" LCD performed a nice job, the color preset was rich, the dynamics were quite well done with only blurry moves, and Robbie maintained another enjoyable performance, while the 1A sound system needed an immediate garage visit.

In the mean time Mr. Steward showed exceptional professionalism, and kept the bedroom next door tidy. I regret not having asked for his name, for I certainly appreciated his calm demeanor that was not too intrusive or overwhelming; reminding of of Kazuo Ishiguro's version of English butler. Also paid attention to specific details, having noticed my photographic exhibition he even offered to bring the wine bottles to the seat for some shots. That's touch of THAI.

After sitting for almost 12 hours it was time to get the blood running up my head, ready to race through the airport with my fellow Parisians. Otard l'eau de vie did what the name said; top notch in the nose. Lightly warmed up and rebooted; I was ready for landing.

นั่งมาจะ 12 ชั่วโมงก็ได้เวลากระตุ้นให้เลือดลมไหลเวียนสะดวกหน่อย ไหนจะต้องเดินแข่งที่สนามบินกับชาวปะรีเซียงอีก ซึ่ง Otard "น้ำแห่งชีวิน" ก็ทำหน้าที่ได้สมชื่อ หอมลึกขึ้นสุดโพรงจมูก เรียกความกระฉับกระเฉงกลับมา พร้อมลงจอดแล้วครับ!

I leave some final thoughts with the design of the major part of the experience where most First Class passengers work, read and dine, or for some, compose and possibly negotiate. It was simply too heavy and bulky. The heavy and thick wood panel, which also started to show wear and tear, gave a tight and secure feeling when dining for instance, but other lighter and more durable materials can serve the same purpose.


Included there is also a part of the white slippers provided, which actually feels more like a sock with extra think feet pad. THAI may wish to consider a better pair that is easier to wear and take off, given that this is a long haul flight and passengers not only move to lavatories, but probably also the bar (which I completely forgot to explore, if any) and the stool seats.

Of various comments in relation to the physical aspects of the airliner, I suspect THAI might not be able to alter much of the physical configuration due to the terms of the lease contract from Jet. Still one can do great things to much surprise, with good lawyers.

ก็ขอย้ายมาดูดีไซน์ของโต๊ะอเนกประสงค์กันบ้างครับที่ที่ผู้โดยสารชั้นหนึ่งทำงาน อ่านหนังสือ รับประทานอาหาร หรือกระทั่งเจรจาธุรกิจโต๊ะที่ว่านี้ดีไซน์มาดูหนา และหนักมาก ให้ความรู้สึกแน่นและมั่นคงดีเช่นเวลาทานอาหารแต่ผมว่า วัสดุที่เบากว่านี้น่าจะเป็นทางเลือกที่ดีกว่าทั้งวัสดุไม้เริ่มแสดงรอยตามอายุการใช้งาน

อีกหนึ่งเครื่องใช้ที่ให้มามีรองเท้าสีขาวให้มาด้วยครับซึ่งให้ความรู้สึกเหมือนถุงเท้าที่มีแผ่นพื้นหนาๆมากกว่า ผมว่าการบินไทยน่าจะลองหาอะไรที่ใส่ๆถอดๆได้ง่ายกว่านี้เพราะผู้โดยสารระยะไกลๆไม่ได้ลุกไปเข้าห้องน้ำอย่างเดียว บางทีก็เดินไปบาร์(ที่ผมลืมไปดูสียสนิท) หรือลุกไปนั่งบ้าง

สำหรับความเห็นในเรื่องของตัวอุปกรณ์และส่วนประกอบเครื่องบินเอง ผมก็เดาว่าการบินไทยอาจทำอะไรไม่ได้มาก เพราะอาจติดขัดข้อสัญญาเช่าที่ทำกับJet Airways แต่สิ่งดีที่คาดไม่ถึงหลายครั้งเกิดขึ้นได้ ถ้ามีนักกฏหมายดีๆ

First Class Lounge สมควรได้รับรางวัลที่หนึ่งจริง ๆ ไปใช้ lounge นี้หลายครั้งแต่ผมไม่ทราบว่ามีสปาและอ่างจากุชชี่แบบเต็มรูปแบบอย่างนั้นด้วย สงสัยต้องไปลองบ้าง

อาหารของทีจีไม่เป็นสองรองใครนะผมว่า ชอบจริง The return of Caviar ส่วนเครื่องดื่มแอลกอฮอร์ทั้งหลายดูแล้วเล่นเอาคนไม่ดื่มอย่างผมนึกอยากชิมขึ้นมาทันใด บินกลางวันดีอย่างอาหารเป็นแบบมื้อหนักทุกมื้อ ไม่ต้องมีอาหารเช้า

ดีมากเลยที่ row 1 ว่าง เลยครองคนเดียวสามที่ทำเป็นบ้านส่วนตัวย่อม ๆ ได้เลย พิเศษสุดจริง ๆ

หรูหรามาก ๆ ครับ เหมือนได้สัมผัสการนั่งเครื่องบินที่ และการใช้บริการของการบินไทยที่เหนือระดับจริง ๆ เลยครับ

ส่วนตัวยังไม่เคยนั่ง First Class ของสายการบินไหนทั้งนั้น แถมการบินไทยก็เพิ่งเคยนั่ง
ยังไงก็แล้วแต่ก็ยังอยากนั่งและใช้บริการของการบินไทยอยู่เรื่อย ๆ เลยครับ

ที่พี่ SS พูดถูกหลายอย่างครับ ส่วนตัวเรื่องอาหารบนเครื่องเห็นทีจะตรงและเคยได้สัมผัสมาอย่างเดียวจริง ๆ
ถ้ามีโอกาศผมและทุนทรัพย์ ผมคงต้องเลือกที่จะนั่ง First class ของสายการบินนี้ให้ได้แน่ ๆ ครับ
