And having a habit of bringing my own set this one will probably be repacked next year or so, and thus I shall avoid the grumbling part, for now.

The restroom with a good space was nothing fancy, but it was always clean and had nice scent in the air. That was important, albeit only 3 First Class passengers were present. A single set of fragrance and lotion by ferragamo is nice, although they might not always go well with personal carry-on toiletries.

The headphones did a sufficient job of cancelling the engine noise, the cuff was soft and fit well, but it did not came with a power switch like those on BOSE QCs, and some users with sensitive ears might prefer such control.

To my surprise the 1A seat had a problem with sound system, it took difficult moves until the sound came out, and still it wasn't something impressive. I'm sure the crew would have provided immediate remedy, 5 seats were empty at least, but I wasn't really in the mood of listening, so again I was not unhappy.

แต่ผมแปลกในที่ 1A suite ของผมมีปัญหาด้านระบบเสียงด้วยกว่าจะมีเสียงออกมาจากลำโพงนี่ก็ใช้เวลาและความพยายามสักพัก และพอมีเสียงออกมาก็ไม่ดีเท่าไหร่จริงๆถ้าผมบ่นไป พนักงานคงจัดการให้ได้แหละครับ เพราะมีที่นั่งว่างๆอยู่แต่อย่างที่บอก ผมไม่สนใจเท่าไหร่ อยากนอนมากกว่า ก็เลยช่างมันเถอะ

Another big surprise, one side of the door of 1A was not working properly and the crew had to exert some force to make it shut, but at that point there wasn't really a need to shut it, so I was not unhappy about it. The door to the suite next door, works very well, hmmm!

The National Geographic magazine regularly presents stunning photography and kept me well awake on the flight. It took quite a while for the crew to chill Bollinger, another fine champagne, but it was worth the wait. While not as airy and sparkling as Dom Pérignon, its milder touch is somehow more refreshing. The view through the four windows privileged to 1A is a big plus to the experience. I nevertheless wish there was a night sky where stars could be more easily gazed.

วิวนอกหน้าต่างทั้งสี่บานที่ผมครอบครองคนเดียวนี่ถือเป็นโบนัสชั้นเยี่ยมของการเดินทางเลยครับแต่จริงๆอยากให้นอกหน้าต่างเป็นแสงดาวยามค่ำคืนเสียจริง

Sandwiches were served between the two meal services. I closed the VAIO lid and enjoyed a piece of fresh cherry and slices of mango. Even the ham was nicely shaped, and the salmon fresh.

I had another rendezvous with Dom Pérignon and as the light in my eyes got brighter and just a little happily blur, there was more incentive to slowly dim down with the lashes.

And so I looked to the neighboring suite next door and saw the flat bed inviting.

Then I remember my own seat, 1A, was having some trouble with the sliding door, and so I consulted Mr. Steward who acted as professional as I could wish. He asked if I want to have bed made, and since the next door suite had no issues with sliding doors, plus it was further from engine noise, Mr. Steward promptly prepared the bed, and then the Royal First Suite became, double suite!


แล้วผมก็นึกขึ้นมาได้ว่าประตูห้องตัวเองเสียนี่นาก็เลยคุยกับสจ๊วตว่าจะเอายังไงดี ก็ได้เห็นความเป็นมืออาชีพอีกครั้งครับสจ๊วตถามผมว่าจะให้จัดเตียงเลยไหม จะได้ให้ผมย้ายมานั่งตรงกลางเพราะประตูไม่มีปัญหา แล้วยังมีเสียงเครื่องยนต์รบกวนน้อยกว่า

Et voila! The double Royal First Suite(s) was ready. It was a pure and exclusive pleasure knowing there is a seat and a bed next to it, to accommodate the uncertain schedules in my mind, thanks to Monsieurs Dom Pérignon et Bollinger. There was no need to wait between going from the seat to the bedroom.

บัดนั้น! Royal First Suites ห้องนอนคู่กับห้องนั่ง พร้อมให้บริการแล้วครับ! เป็นความสำราญใจที่ขณะนั่งทำงานด้วยจิตที่เริ่มเฉไฉไปกับสหายดอมและสหายโบ รู้ตัวว่ามีเตียงรออยู่ข้างๆ ให้ครอบครองได้ในบัดดล ไม่ต้องรอ อยากนอนเมื่อใด ก็แค่เดินไปที่ห้องนอนได้เมื่อนั้น

But hold on! Just like the habit most of us do at home before going to bed, we usually charge our phones, and camera battery etc. My head was a bit light and I wasn't completely sure where I kept my LUMIX charger, and I needed a space to search my bags.

And so it goes, I moved to colonize yet another Royal First Suite, in search of an empty space to put down and search two of the loyal TUMI brothers I first came to know back in law school 5 years ago.

Hence, the Triple Exclusive Royal First Suite(s).

แต่ดูรา... ก่อนนอนก็ต้องชาร์จพวกอุปกรณ์ส่วนตัวทั้งหลายเป็นนิสัยใช่ไหมครับตอนนี้ในหัวผมก็เริ่มสบาบตัวเบาเล็กน้อยแล้วก็ไม่แน่ใจว่าเอาที่ชาร์จของ Lumix ไปไว้ไหนสงสัยต้องหาพื้นที่มารื้อกระเป๋าเป็นการใหญ่ ฉันใดก็ฉันนั้น ก็เลยใช้ Royal Suite ตัวที่สามถัดไปนั่นแหละ เป็นฐานทัพในการค้นพลพรรค Tumi ที่ภักดีกับผม โดยใบแรกเคยใช้ตั้งแต่สมัยเป็นนิสิตนิติศาสตร์เมื่อ 5 ปีก่อนโน้น และแล้วก็เลยกลายเป็นว่า ผมเข้าครอบครองปรปักษ์ Royal First Suite(s) ไปสามสถานในคราเดียวกัน!

With the bigger space it was easy to find the small charger. As if he knew I was bidding for a sweet dream, Mr. Steward offered me the pleasant raspberry sorbet with a hint of chocolate. A decent treat before bed, whilst not so healthy for the teeth.

Retreating from desk to bed, I explored some extra features of the electric privacy partition not available to window seats.

ถอยทัพจากโต๊ะทำงานไปที่เตียงนอน ก็ขอทดสอบแผ่นกั้น partition ปรับไฟฟ้าสักนิด เพราะไม่มีให้ลองหากเป็นที่นั่งข้างหน้าต่างครับ

I always include these effective 3M ear plugs in my personal travel kit; small and extra soft (much better than those free ones I found on most airlines), fitting right into the ear with no cuffs and wire. I would say one sleeps better with these and with the pricey BOSE QC. I fully support THAI to include such high quality plugs for passengers.
I never saw ear plugs used in Thai law schools, but I guess several of my backbencher classmates might find some use of these. Apparently from a brief visit to a U.S. law school, the school hands out these plugs for free at the exam rooms which are filled with constant keyboard tapping; applying statutes and case laws.

The cotton blanket was clean and pleasantly odorless, but of regular knitting quality; the bed sheet was nothing exciting. A 300 thread count is left to be desired, but the pillow was big and more than enough comfort was there for a good sleep.

ผมไม่เคยเจอที่อุดหูถูกใช้ในโรงเรียนกฎหมายไทยนะครับ แต่เดาว่าบรรดาเพื่อนสมาคมท้ายห้องอาจชอบเหมือนกัน แต่เคยไปเยี่ยมโรงเรียนกฎหมายทีสหรัฐอเมริกา ในวันสอบนั้นทางโรงเรียนจะแจกที่อุดหูครับ เพราะในห้องสอบที่นั่นจะมีเสียงเคาะคีย์บอร์ดบรรเลงตัวบทและย่อคำพิพากษาดังระรัว เลยหยิบติดมือมากำหนึ่ง แต่พอผมไปเรียนต่ออีก ณ โรงเรียนแห่งหนึ่ง นอกจากไม่แจกยังกลับห้ามใช้ครับ เดาว่าเพราะเกรงอุดไปอุดมาจะมีเสียงซ่อนเร้นโผล่มาด้วย

ผ้าห่มก็สะอาด ไม่มีกลิ่นซึ่งดีมาก แต่เป็นผ้าถักนุ่มธรรมดา ผ้าปูที่นอนก็แค่ใช้ได้ครับ ได้แต่ไขว่หาเนื้อผ้าละเอียด เช่น แบบ 300 thread count สักวัน แต่หมอนใหญ่และนุ่มดีครับ เพียงพอต่อการหลับอย่างสบาย
