Soon it was time to return to Shanghai.  The high speed rail departs from Beijing South Station; it is conveniently located close to the city centre and is accessible by subway.

SQ833 – PVG-SIN  A380 9V-SKG

 

After spending a relaxing two weeks in Shanghai and Beijing, it was finally time for me to return to Singapore.  The late afternoon flight was operated by the A380.

 

I decided to take a taxi direct to Pudong Airport instead of transferring to the MAGLEV.  There is very little difference in price between the two options anyway.

Air China Star Alliance Gold Lounge – Hot meals are served only during lunch hours.  Only cold pastries and instant noodles were available when I arrived at the lounge at 2.30pm. Fortunately I had a full lunch before arriving at the airport.

I spent just 30min in the lounge and decided to board my flight.  I was seated in the Upper Deck this time.

The only benefit of being in the upper deck is the storage space by the window seat.  Otherwise I prefer to be in the larger, more spacious lower deck.

SQ introduced new ear-phones in 2015.  They are ear-buds similar to those that we typically use with our mobile phones.  These ear-buds are not recycled, so you can bring them home with you after the flight.  They are much more comfortable that the previous ear phones, but I felt that the sound quality offered by the new ear-buds were inferior to the ear phones.

As SQ833 departs in the evening, dinner was served.

Amenities in the lavatory – Finally, decent quality razors for Y class passengers!

I was exhausted from the trip and promptly fell asleep after dinner…zzz

 

 

 

So ends my first trip report for 2015.  I hope to write more reports in the following days, and I hope you enjoyed reading this report. 

Once again, my apologies for the poor quality pictures (Samsung S5 camera…NOT GOOD! )
