จู่ๆ ผมก็นึกอะไรขึ้นมาได้อย่างหนึ่ง มาถึงตอนนี้แล้วลองขอเข้าดูห้องนักบินดีกว่าครับ ผมเลยถามคุณเอมิลี่ว่ารีบเทิร์นเครื่องหรือเปล่า (เพราะสองอาทิตย์ก่อนหน้าเคยขอเข้าของแอร์เอเชียแต่กัปตันปฏิเสธเนื่องจากต้องเตรียมสำหรับไฟลท์ต่อไปทันที) คุณเอมิลี่ตอบว่าเดี๋ยวเครื่องนี้จะบินไปกระบี่ต่อ แต่จะมีพนักงานมาทำความสะอาดก่อน ผมจึงขอไป คุณเอมิลี่เข้าไปถามกัปตันสักพัก ปรากฏว่าอนุญาตครับ
ดีใจจนบอกไม่ถูก ไม่เคยเข้าห้องนักบินของเครื่องจริงๆ มาก่อนเลย ขอบคุณกัปตันมากๆ ครับ
One thought ran through my mind, maybe it’s possible to visit the cockpit? So I asked Emily if this would be possible. She then walked into the cockpit and asked the captain, who said ‘yes, of course!’
I felt elated, really. This was my first real cockpit visit. Millions of thanks to the captains.





คันเร่ง สวิตช์ควบคุมแฟลป สปีดเบรก และอื่นๆ อีกนับร้อยซึ่งผมก็ไม่รู้เหมือนกันว่าควบคุมอะไรบ้าง
Thrust levers, flaps and speed brakes control, along with hundreds other switches and buttons. I will admit here that I do not know most of them.

กัปตันบำรุงถามผมว่าเรียนอะไรอยู่ พอผมบอกว่าเรียนหมอ กัปตันก็บอกว่า “อ้าวเป็นคุณหมอเหรอ ไม่สนใจมาเป็นนักบินบ้างเหรอ” ผมก็หัวเราะแหะๆ

หลังจากดูได้พอประมาณก็คงได้เวลาที่ผมต้องลงจากเครื่องจริงๆ แล้วล่ะครับ ให้เจ้าหน้าที่ทำงานกันต่อ ผมกล่าวขอบคุณกัปตันทั้งสองและขอบคุณคุณแอร์ทุกคนก่อนไปหยิบของที่ที่นั่งตัวเอง แต่ก็พบว่าคุณเอมิลี่หยิบมาวางที่ประตูเครื่องเรียบร้อยแล้ว ประทับใจตั้งแต่ขึ้นยันลงจริงๆ ครับ
Cleaning personnel began their job, so maybe it was time for me to get off the plane. I thanked the crew before picking up my belongings at the seat, but later found that Emily had carried them to the door while I was in the cockpit. Just...impressive, right from the start to the end.

เดินได้พักหนึ่งก็ถึงตัวอาคารหลัก ใครบอกว่าสุวรรณภูมิเดินไกลไม่รู้ แต่ผมเดินๆ ยืนๆแบบนี้จนชิน ไม่รู้สึกอะไรแล้วครับ
Reached the main building after some walking. Some might say Suvarnabhumi’s design causes burden on users’ legs, but I am more than familiar to long walk and extended periods of standing, so no comments here. :P

Collected my bag at carousel no.4. Looks like AirAsia tried its best to bring passengers to Don Muang.



รอแค่ไม่นานกระเป๋าผมก็ออกมาครับ เช็คดูว่าไม่มีอะไรบุบสลาย ไม่มีอะไรผิดสังเกตก็ไปต่อได้
I waited for a few minutes before my bag came out. Checked that there was not anything irregular, then we were all set to go.



แล้วคราวหน้าจะมาใช้บริการอีกนะครับ
I will ‘fly smart’ again in the near future, of course.

ปกติเวลาออกจากสนามบินผมจะใช้แอร์พอร์ตลิงค์ แต่คราวนี้ลองเอารถมาจอดที่ในฟรีโซนครับ เลยต้องมาขึ้นรถเวียนฟรีของการท่าที่ชั้นหนึ่ง
Normally I get out of Suvarnabhumi by the Airport Rail Link, but this time I chose to park my car at the free zone, which is accessible by AOT shuttle bus. Bus stop is at the ground floor.



ไปฟรีโซนให้ขึ้นสาย B รถออกทุก 10 นาทีครับ
Ordinary bus B to free zone departs every 10 minutes.



นั่งรถไปได้ราว 6 - 7 นาทีก็จอดที่หน้าอาคารจอดรถ P1 พอถึงก็ขึ้นลิฟท์ไปที่ชั้น 7 ที่ผมจอดรถไว้ตั้งแต่เมื่อวันศุกร์ จัดการเก็บของเข้ารถให้เรียบร้อยแล้วก็หันกลับไปถ่ายภาพตัวอาคารสักเล็กน้อย เป็นภาพสุดท้ายของทริปนี้ครับ
After 6 - 7 minutes in the bus, I got off just in front of P1 car park building, took an escalator up to the 7th floor where I had parked my car back on Friday, put my belongings inside, and took this final photo.



เสร็จเรียบร้อยก็ขับไปคืนบัตรและจ่ายเงินค่าจอด 215 บาท (วันละ 100 บวกชั่วโมงกว่าๆ) ที่ทางออกฟรีโซน แล้วก็ขับไปรับพ่อแม่ที่เพิ่งนั่งบางกอกมาจากสุโขทัยก่อนกลับบ้านอย่างสวัสดิภาพ เป็นการสิ้นสุดทริปเชียงใหม่ของผมอย่างเป็นทางการครับ
Paid the 215 baht parking fee (THB100 per day plus some extra hours) at free zone exit, then I drove back to the terminal to pick up my parent who had just arrived from Sukhothai, and safely drove home.

และก่อนจะถึงบทสรุปก่อนจบรีวิว ผมขอนำเสนอภาพเครื่องบินบางส่วนที่ผมไปถ่ายมาในช่วงเช้าวันที่ 2 ธันวาคมครับ พอมาถึงไม่ทันไรก็มีไทยสไมล์ HS-TXC ขึ้นทันที เป็นเที่ยวบิน TG 721 ไปภูเก็ตครับ เตรียมกล้องยังไม่ทัน ภาพไม่ค่อยชัดเลยเอามาแต่งสีและใช้เป็น banner สำหรับรีวิวนี้แทนครับ

Orient Thai’s Mad Dog later arrived as OX 8120 from Don Muang. That classic ‘clamshell’ type reverse thrust sounded so remarkably loud.

This lightly loaded 747 took off like a rocket, used less than 1.5km of runway before lifting off, less than all narrowbody jets I saw here.

The same AirAsia aircraft departing as FD 3064 to Hat Yai. HS-ABS is currently based in Chiang Mai, operating flights to and from Don Muang, Hat Yai, Ubon Ratchathani and Macau.

The bright pink Saab leaving for Udon Thani as 5E 955. Nok Mini currently operates 3 daily flights between Chiang Mai and Udon Thani.

นกสีชมพูแปร๋นลำนึงออกไป อีกลำก็กลับมาอีกครั้ง นกฟลามิงโกจากดอนเมืองอีกแล้วครับ ขณะนี้นกแอร์บินมาเชียงใหม่วันละ 9 เที่ยวบิน ถี่ที่สุดจากดอนเมือง และยังเป็นรองแค่ TG ครับ (TG 10x, DD 9x, FD 8x)
Here she came to Chiang Mai again. ‘Nok Flamingo’ as DD 8310 from Don Muang.
With 9 daily flights to Chiang Mai, Nok Air ranks second in terms of frequency of flights between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, and first if only flights to and from Don Muang are considered.

My spotting session in Chiang Mai concludes here. After I took the last photo, I went to the city center to have lunch with my friend, then packed my belongings before going back to Bangkok.

Conclusion & Comments

ก็ถือว่าจบไปแล้วสำหรับรีวิวไทยสไมล์แรกของผมนะครับ

• การบริการ ผมว่าถือเป็นจุดแข็งของสายการบินเลยนะครับ ผมรู้สึกได้ว่าคุณแอร์ทุกคน (อย่างน้อยก็ส่วนที่ผมได้เจอ) บริการได้อย่างเป็นกันเองและจริงใจมากๆ ตั้งแต่ตอนต้อนรับผู้โดยสาร ตอนรับออร์เดอร์อาหารเย็น ตอนที่เข้าไปคุยด้วย ตอนที่ได้เข้าไปดูห้องนักบิน ไปจนถึงตอนที่หยิบของมาให้ก่อนลงจากเครื่อง อาจจะเป็นเพราะเป็นแอร์ใหม่ ยังมี passion สูงอยู่ ผมประทับใจเที่ยวบินนี้เป็นอันดับต้นๆ เลยครับ และบอกตามตรง แอบประทับใจมากกว่าเที่ยวบิน A380 เมื่อสองเดือนที่แล้วอีกครับ

ผมอยากจะขอขอบคุณคุณตานสำหรับการสาธิตความปลอดภัยเก๋ๆ และท่าทางที่ชวนให้ยิ้มได้ตลอดทั้งเที่ยวบิน ขอบคุณคุณเอมิลี่สำหรับการบริการดีๆ รวมถึงกัปตันที่ให้ผมเข้าชมห้องนักบินด้วยครับ

• อาหาร ข้อแรกคือปริมาณเยอะดีครับ อิ่มแน่ๆ อร่อยดีด้วย (เว้นอย่างเดียวคือส้มโอขมมาก ไม่ไหว) อีกอย่างผมชอบตรงที่เสิร์ฟเครื่องดื่มใส่แก้วมาพร้อมอาหารเลย แต่แอบเสียดายเล็กน้อยที่อาหารร้อนมีบริการแค่บนเที่ยวบินระหว่างประเทศ (ซึ่งตอนนี้ก็มีแค่มาเก๊า)

• เครื่องบิน คุณสิงห์บุรีใหม่ดีครับ ชอบตรงที่ไทยสไมล์ใช้สีสันบนเครื่องได้ดี ทั้งที่นั่งลายขวาง ม่านสีส้มสด ที่รองศีรษะสีชมพู ลายไม้ในห้องน้ำ หรือแม่้แต่แถบสีส้มตลอดความยาวที่เก็บของเหนือศีรษะ ทำให้เครื่องดูสดใส ต่างจากสายการบินทีี่ใช้เครื่องใหม่รุ่นเดียวกัน (อันนั้นก็ดูโอเคนะครับ แต่เรียบไปนิด) เบาะของสไมล์พลัสนั่งสบายดีครับ เหยียดขาได้สบายมาก

So that is all of my first experience on THAI Smile. Here is what I think :

• Service I think this is the strong point of the airline. The flight attendants provided a very professional, yet genuine service and someone really added some colors to the otherwise ordinary flights between Bangkok and Chiang Mai. From the warm welcome when I step into the aircraft, the very enjoyable safety demonstration, the moment Tan took order for dinner, the first visit to the cockpit, to Emily’s effort to prepare things for me before I leave, I really appreciate all of that and to be straight, this flight was one of the most, if not the most memorable for me. Well, maybe even more impressive than the A380 flight I took 2 months before.

Special thanks to Tan for your humor, Emily for your thoughtful service, and the captains for letting me inside the cockpit.

• Food It was very fulfilling and tasty (except that bitter pomelo though). I like that they include a pre-filled glass of drinks in the tray. A bit unfortunate though, that hot meals are for international flights only.

• Aircraft As I said, ‘Sing Buri’ is one brand-new plane, being delivered just two months before. I like the color choices on THAI Smile aircraft, from seats with stripes, bright orange curtains, shocking pink headrest covers, wood trims inside the toilets, to the orange trim just below the overhead compartment lids. Seats are also very comfortable in Smile Plus, but I cannot really comment about Smile Class seats though.

That was my first cockpit visit of any type, and together with this flight, makes up my most unforgettable experiences.
