ระหว่างนี้คุณกัปตันก็ประกาศเป็นภาษาอังกฤษเกี่ยวกับว่าเราน่าจะออกเดินทางได้ในอีกสักครู่ บอกว่าระหว่างเครื่องขึ้นน่าจะมีสภาพอากาศแปรปรวนเล็กน้อยเนื่องจากทางเหนือของเชียงใหม่มีฝนตก แต่สภาพอากาศระหว่างทางยังดีอยู่ พร้อมขอบคุณผู้โดยสารที่บินกับไทยสไมล์ในวันนี้ครับ
The captain came on PA, announcing that we were about to leave in a few minutes, that there might be turbulences after take off since there was a rain to the north of Chiang Mai but the conditions along the way was fine.

At 17.14, 44 minutes behind schedule, THAI Smile flight TG 715 began its journey back to Suvarnabhumi.

In the meantime, the purser greeted passengers again through the PA, introduced the pilots in charge for this flight (Captains Bamrung and Subin), introduced herself (Emily) and other FAs (named Tan, Kaew and Kratai) and reminded passengers to pay attention to the imminent safety demonstration. Then another flight attendant took over and began narrating while the FA with bright red lips began her dramatic safety demo, with a genuine smile. I almost could not resist laughing while watching her. One of the most enjoyable safety demo for me, without a doubt.

Turned south toward Bangkok. Saw that Chiang Mai airport slowly come into view, and Chiang Mai - Hangdong road stretches as far as eye can see.

แต่ผมว่าเมฆเยอะขนาดนี้ ไม่น่าเชื่อว่าเป็นเดือนธันวาคมนะครับ หนึ่งปีก่อนท้องฟ้าปลอดโปร่งกว่านี้มาก เพื่อนที่เชียงใหม่บ่นกันอุบว่าปีนี้ไม่หนาวเลย
Even there was not any significant turbulence, it was very cloudy when compared to December’s average. Chiang Mai (and most of Thailand in general) is unseasonably warm this year. Cold air mass from China has not arrived yet.

กลับมาในห้องโดยสารอีกครั้ง ขณะนี้ไปรัดเข็มขัดดับลงแล้ว จอที่แผงเหนือศีรษะก็กางออกและเริ่มฉาย Just For Laugh (อีกแล้ว) ครับ
Back inside the cabin. The fasten seatbelt sign had already been off for a while and ‘Just For Laugh’ was played on the overhead screens (again).


บางทีดูแล้วตลกบ้างไม่ตลกบ้าง แต่ผมว่ารายการนี้ก็ดีอย่างที่ไม่ต้องได้ยินเสียงก็ฮาได้นะครับ
It might not be that funny, but you’ll have to admit that it doesn’t need sounds to be comprehensible.

ไม่นานคุณตานก็ออกมาแนะนำตัวเลือกอาหารเย็นให้กับผู้โดยสาร Smile Plus ทีละคู่ วันนี้อาหารเย็นมีให้เลือกระหว่างแซนด์วิชหรือเบอร์เกอร์ไก่เทอริยากิ ผมขออันหลังส่วนคุณฝรั่งที่นั่งข้างๆ เลือกอันแรก จากนั้นคุณตานก็ถามต่อว่าจะรับเครื่องดื่มอะไรมารับประทานด้วย มีให้เลือกทั้งน้ำเปล่า น้ำอีกลม น้ำผลไม้ ชา และกาแฟ ผมเลือกสไปรท์ครับ พอหลังจากคุณตานจดเสร็จก็ไหว้งามๆ พร้อมยิ้มกว้าง เห็นแล้วรู้สึกดีมากๆ เลยครับ
Tan began introducing the dinner options for Smile Plus passengers. Choices today were club sandwiches or chicken teriyaki burger, which I chose the latter. Then Tan inquired further about drink choices, which consisted of water, soft drinks, juices, tea and coffee. I asked for Sprite, while Tan granted, took a note, then give us a graceful ‘wai’ with a big smile on her face.
That, is what I call a genuine service.

Sawasdee magazine (with His Majesty’s illustration on the cover), BOB menu, onboard duty free catalogue, safety pamphlet and airsickness bag were in the seat pocket.

Emily began distributing table clothes.



หันไปข้างหลังก็เจอผ้าม่านสีส้มสดกั้นสไมล์พลัสไว้เพื่อความเป็นส่วนตัว วันนี้สไมล์พลัสมีแค่ 3 แถวเท่านั้นครับ
The bright orange movable partition secluded Smile Plus class from the rest of the cabin. Only 3 rows for us today.

คุณตานและคุณเอมิลี่ก็จัดการเตรียมอาหารไป ผมก็นั่งมองออกไปข้างนอก ดวงอาทิตย์จะตกแล้วครับ แต่เมฆยังค่อนข้างเยอะอยู่
Tan and Emily were back inside the galley, meticulously preparing the dinner service while I enjoyed the scenery along the way. The sun must have been setting at that time.



ในที่สุดคุณตานก็นำอาหารเย็นของผมในเที่ยวบินนี้มาเสิร์ฟครับ รวมๆ แล้วนับจากหลังรับออร์เดอร์เสร็จประมาณสิบนาทีได้
นอกจากเบอร์เกอร์ที่ผมสั่งไป อาหารจานนี้ยังมาพร้อมกับสลัดครีมกุ้งและส้มโอ และบราวนี่อีกชิ้น ส่วนสไปรท์ที่สั่งคุณแอร์ก็รินใส่แก้วมาให้เรียบร้อย (และเป็นแก้วจริงๆ นะครับ ไม่ใช่พลาสติก) สังเกตอีกอย่างคือช้อนส้อมของสายการบินนี้จะใช้คนละแบบกับการบินไทยครับ
Around 10 minutes after Tan took my order, she came back with my meal. Apart from the burger ordered, this meal also included shrimp salad with pieces of pomelo and a sizable piece of brownie. Sprite was served in a real glass. Note that THAI Smile uses a different set of fork and spoon when compared to TG mainline.



มาดูบราวนี่กันใกล้ๆ

เบอร์เกอร์ไก่อร่อยดีครับ ปริมาณเยอะด้วย กุ้งในสลัดก็กรอบดีแต่ส้มโอที่ใส่ขมมากครับ ส่วนบราวนี่นั้นโอเค แต่สุดท้ายผมก็กินไม่หมดเพราะอาหารใน lounge และเบอร์เกอร์แน่นเต็มท้องไปแล้วครับ
The chicken burger was tasty and filling. Shrimp salad was okay but the pomelo added was too bitter for my liking (might be unripe). Brownie was good too but eventually I did not eat all of it. My stomach was already full from foods in the lounge and that burger!

ขณะที่กำลังกินเบอร์เกอร์อยู่ คุณกัปตันก็ประกาศเสียงตามสายอีกครั้ง บอกว่าขณะนี้เราบินที่ความสูง 35000 ฟิตหรือประมาณ 10 กิโลเมตรเหนือระดับน้ำทะเลที่ความเร็ว 850 กิโลเมตรต่อชั่วโมง คาดว่าน่าจะถึงสุวรรณภูมิในเวลา 18.20 กัปต้นได้ขออภัยอีกครั้งในความล่าช้าของเที่ยวบิน และบอกถึงสภาพอากาศในขณะนั้นที่สุวรรณภูมิว่ามีเมฆเป็นบางส่วนครับ
Captain came on PA again while I was having my burger, announcing that we were cruising at 35000 feet above MSL at 850 kph and expected to arrive at 18.20 local time. He apologized again for the delay of this flight.

จิบสไปรท์ไปขณะฟ้าข้างนอกค่อยๆ มืดลง เห็นเทือกเขาในภาคตะวันตกได้ลางๆ มีความสุขจังครับ
Sipped my sprite while watching the gradually darker landscape. I must have been on cloud nine.

ไม่นานคุณเอมิลี่ก็เก็บถาดอาหารของผมและคุณฝรั่งข้างๆ ดังนั้นก็ได้เวลาสำรวจเคบินของ A320 ลำนี้แล้วครับ
Emily came to collect the trays, so it was about time to explore the cabin of this A320.


เที่ยวบินนี้มีผู้โดยสารเต็มทุกที่นั่งครับ แบ่งเป็นสไมล์คลาส 156 คนและสไมล์พลัส 12 คน
All seats were occupied on this flight. 156 passengers in Smile Class and another 12 in Smile Plus.

มาดูห้องน้ำข้างหลังกันครับ
Let's see the rear toilet.



เปิดประตเข้าไปดู ยังสะอาดดีครับ ชอบตรงที่ตกแต่งด้วยลายไม้ด้วย ทำให้ดูน่าใช้งานกว่ากันเยอะ
The rear toilet of this aircraft, still perfectly clean. Gotta love the wood trim THAI Smile chose. It really makes the toilet more welcoming in my opinion, especially when compared to basic, industrial-design toilet on some low-cost airlines.

สลับมาดูห้องน้ำด้านหน้าบ้าง ที่จริงก็เหมือนข้างหลังทุกประการแหละครับ
The front toilet. Well, it is almost identical to the rear ones.



อุปกรณ์ที่มีให้ในห้องน้ำก็ได้แก่สบู่ แก้วน้ำ ทิชชู่ ไม่มีน้ำหอมหรือโคโลญจน์ใดๆ ครับ
Soap dispenser, paper cups and various tissues are available. No perfume or Eau de Toilette provided.

ขณะนั้นคุณตานและคุณเอมิลี่ก็อยู่ในแกลลี่พอดีเลยได้คุยกันเล็กน้อย แอร์ปากสีแดงแปร๊ดคือคุณตานนี่แหละครับ ผมเลยขอชมว่าพี่แสดง safety demo ได้แจ่มมาก ดูแล้วเพลิน แทบจะหัวเราะไปด้วย คุณเอมิลี่ก็เสริมว่าถ้าให้แสดงต้องคนนี้ล่ะค่ะ
Emily and Tan were also in the galley at that moment so we had a brief chat. As you can see, Tan was that FA with bright red lips who did the remarkable safety demonstration and introduced the meal options. Emily added, ‘if it comes to acting, it must be her’. lol

ขอถ่ายรูปเป็นที่ระลึกกันสักเล็กน้อย ขอบคุณพี่ทั้งสองคนมากๆ นะครับ
I asked if they could pose for my photo. And they accepted enthusiastically.

คุยได้ไม่นานไฟรัดเข็มขัดก็ติดขึ้นอีกครั้ง ผมจึงขอตัวไปนั่งที่ก่อน ขณะเดียวกันคุณเอมิลี่ก็ยื่นแบบแสดงความคิดเห็นให้ บอกว่าถ้ามีอะไรอยากติชมหรืออยากแนะนำก็เขียนมาได้เลยนะคะ
The fasten seatbelt sign pinged on again. I had to get back to my seat as a result. Before leaving, Emily gave me the comments form, saying that if there is anything to compliment, criticize or suggest, just write them down.

The American guy in 32H still enjoying a movie on his iPad.

จากนั้นไฟในห้องโดยสารก็ถูกหรี่ลงทำให้มองเห็นข้างนอกได้ชัดขึ้น กำลังบินอยู่เหนือกรุงเทพประมาณ 8000 ฟุตแล้วครับ มีใครมองออกหรือเปล่าว่าถนนเส้นใหญ่ๆ ในรูปคืออะไร
The cabin lights were then dimmed, allowing me to see the outside with less reflections. We were now flying over eastern part of Bangkok at the altitude of around 8000 feet...



และค่อยๆ ต่ำลงเรื่อยๆ
...and progressively decreasing...



หลังจากคุณเอมิลี่ประกาศว่าเครื่องกำลังลดระดับลงก็เริ่มเปิดเพลงครับ บนการบินไทยก็มักเป็นดนตรีไทย ตอนนั่งแอร์เอเชียเมื่ออาทิตย์ก่อนเป็นเพลง “ใครใครก็บินได้” แต่บนไทยสไมล์เป็นเพลงเก๋ๆ อย่าง “ลูกอม” และ “ร่มสีเทา” ของวัชราวลีและ “มันคือความรัก” ของลุลา ถูกจริตมากครับ แอบร้องคลอๆ ไปด้วยเลยตอนนั้น ขอเอามาให้ฟังกันนิดนึง
Some nice and recent Thai songs were played during descent. For me, that is one of many things that makes this airline unique.

บรรยากาศสงบภายในห้องโดยสารก่อนเครื่องลง คุณเอมิลี่และตุณตานกำลังเช็คความเรียบร้อยอยู่ครับ
The calm atmosphere of the cabin just before landing. Emily and Tan were still up checking until everyone was strapped in and everything was secured in place.





เครื่องบินออกไปกลางอ่าวไทยได้พักใหญ่ก็วกกลับมาเหนือแผ่นดินอีกครั้ง ขณะที่เครื่องยนต์ IAE V2500 ทั้งสองก็เดินรอบเบากันต่อไป
We flew over the Gulf of Thailand for some time then turned back towards land, while the two IAE engines kept running at low speed.

และแล้ว คุณสิงห์บุรีก็ร่อนลงจอดอย่างปลอดภัยบนรันเวย์ 01L ครับ เวลาในขณะนั้นคือ 18.22 ช้ากว่ากำหนดไป 40 กว่านาทีแล้วครับ
‘Sing Buri’ eventually landed on Runway 01L at Suvarnabhumi, albeit more than 40 minutes behind schedule.

พอเครื่องลงแล้วนึกขึ้นมาได้ว่ายังไม่ได้เปิดเมนูเลยลองเอามาดู ก็น่ากินดีนะครับ แต่รู้สึกเหมือนจะแพงกว่าบนแอร์เอเชียนิดหน่อย และอาหารร้อนมีให้บริการบนเที่ยวบินระหว่างประเทศเท่านั้นครับ
The BOB menu, called Smile Café. Hot meals options look quite appetizing, but they are available only on international flights. Cup noodles, snacks and some drinks are obtainable on domestic flights, though.



แท็กซี่ไปได้สักครู่เครื่องก็หยุดและผมเริ่มได้ยินเสียงคนปลดเข็มขัดที่นั่งตัวเอง (ไฟรัดเข็มขัดยังไม่ดับเลยนะ!!) กัปตันจึงต้องประกาศว่าขณะนี้มีเครื่องลำอื่นจอดอยู่ในหลุมจอดที่ได้กำหนดไว้ และขอให้ทุกคนนั่งอยู่กับที่ก่อน ระหว่างนี้คุณตานและคุณเอมิลี่ก็พยายามยืดคอมองดูผู้โดยสาร แต่ก็ทำอะไรไม่ได้มากเพราะตัวเองก็ต้องนั่งกับที่เหมือนกันครับ
The plane somehow stopped on the taxiway, then I started to hear the clicking sounds of people releasing their seatbelts (the fasten seatbelt is still on guys!). Captain later announced that a plane parked at our designated spot and asked everyone to remain seated. Emily and Tan tried their best to look at the passengers, but they had to be strapped in too.

แต่ไม่นานเครื่องก็ไปต่อได้ วันนี้คุณสิงห์บุรีมาจอดสนิทที่เกท B4 ครับ
‘Sing Buri’ continued moving after a few minutes and finally came to a full stop at Gate B4.

และไฟในห้องโดยสารก็ติดขึ้น ไฟรัดเข็มขัดดับลง ทุกคนก็ลุกขึ้นหยิบของของตนแต่ผมไม่รีบครับ ถ่ายภาพที่นั่งตัวเองไปพลางๆ ชอบลายนี้จังครับ เก๋ดี
Cabin lights brightened, fasten seatbelt signs extinguished, then everyone got up to reach their belongings. But I am not in any hurry. There was still some time left to take photos of the cabin.





ผู้โดยสารคนอื่นทยอยลงจากเครื่องไปเรื่อยๆ เห็นได้ชัดเจนว่าที่นั่งตรงกลางจะเว้นไว้โดยใช้แผ่นหนังลาย Smile Plus สีชมพูเข้มแปะไว้แทนผ้ารองศีรษะครับ
Other passengers disembarked. See that the middle seats in Smile Plus are blocked with pink-red leather (with ‘Smile Plus’ etched on its surface) placed instead of normal pink headrest cover.

มองไปยังที่นั่งฝั่งตรงข้าม อย่างที่กล่าวไป 5 แถวแรกมีระยะห่างระหว่างแถว 33 นิ้ว
As I said, 33” pitch for the first 5 rows. Spacious and comfortable.



พอผู้โดยสารคนอื่นลงไปกันเกือบหมดแล้วผมก็ลองไปนั่งที่นั่งอื่นดู (เพราะคราวหน้าอาจไม่ได้นั่ง Smile Plus ) ที่บอกว่าระยะห่าง 30 นิ้วก็ยังพอไหวสำหรับเที่ยวบินสั้นๆ และผมว่ายังไม่แคบเท่าแอร์เอเชียนะครับ
I tried sitting at some other seats. It was a bit narrow, but tolerable for short flights and, in my opinion, still better than AirAsia.
