หลังจากยัดเป้และกระเป๋ากล้องลงที่เก็บของเรียบร้อย ผมถามพนักงานต้อนรับใกล้ๆ ว่าถ้าถ่ายรูปช่วงนี้โอเคหรือเปล่า เค้าตอบว่าเชิญตามสบายครับ สบายเลยทีนี้
บริเวณบาร์ครับ ซึ่งไม่ได้เซ็ทบนไฟลท์นี้เนื่องจากเวลาบินสั้นนิดเดียว ในขณะนั้นคุณแอร์ก็กำลังเสิร์ฟ welcome drink ครับ
I placed my belongings inside the personal container. After I saw people still roaming around the cabin, I asked a flight attendant passing whether it was possible to take photos around the cabin. He said it was totally okay. So I grabbed my camera, stood up, and frenziedly engaged in a photoshooting spree.
Welcome drinks were being served. Note that the drinks bar was not set.

สิ่งหนึ่งที่น่าจะเป็นประโยชน์กับผมคือปกติการบินไทยจะไม่ขายตั๋วชั้นหนึ่งในเที่ยวบินมาสิงคโปร์ ปัจจัยหนึ่งคงเป็นเพราะเส้นทางนี้อยู่ในกลุ่มใกล้ พอไม่มีผู้โดยสารผมจึงสามารถเดินไปถ่ายรูปได้ตามใจชอบ ชั้นไหมหลวงเป็นคลาสที่สูงที่สุดบนไฟลท์นี้แล้วครับ
One major plus for Singapore flights is that there is no first class tickets sold. Maybe because Singapore is classified in the group of nearest international destinations (less than 1,000 miles from Bangkok). So I could experience the majestic new first class cabin as much as I liked.



เฟิร์สใหม่ของการบินไทยดูสวยหรูมากครับ ตอนแรกที่เห็นจากกราฟฟิกดูเหมือนจืดๆ แต่ของจริงดูทองอร่ามมากทีเดียว ข้างที่นั่งก็มีแผงควมคุม รีโมท IFE ที่เสียบสายต่างๆ และแผ่นสีขาวๆ คล้ายจอที่กดแล้วจะมีไฟขึ้นมา เดาว่าน่าจะเป็นไฟส่วนตัวนะครับ (เหมือน night light อะไรแบบนี้หรือเปล่าไม่แน่ใจ)

One word to describe TG’s new first class ; Elegant.
It looked quite pale in the graphics, but very refined, understated, and luxurious in person. I do love the fabrics of the seat too, but remains skeptical what it may look like years from now.

In front of the seats are 23-inch IFE screens, a table, an ottoman and a pocket containing reading materials. The table can be removed, enabling another passenger to sit.



ให้สังเกตว่าช่องเก็บของเหนือศีรษะมีเฉพาะตรงกลางเท่านั้นและยังเป็นแบบ pivot ทำให้ห้องโดยสารดูโล่งโปร่งดีครับ
Note that there are only central overhead bins, which are also pivot type ones. This enhances the sense of space of this magnificent cabin.

เดินไปที่ด้าน port ตรงนี้เป็นห้องน้ำครับ ตกแต่งด้วยลายไม้สีน้ำตาลพร้อมไฟสีม่วงที่พื้นให้ความรู้สึกที่แตกต่าง แม้แต่อ่างล้างหน้าก็เหมือนไม่ได้อยู่บนเครื่องบินเลยครับ
Strolled across to the port side where the toilet is located. The toilet was decorated using wood-like side panel mixed with a subtle violet tint, giving a unique impression. Even the wash basin is not conventional ones found on most planes.

Another section of the toilet is a dressing area. Spacey enough to change clothes comfortably.

Then I tried sitting at 1K, pretending to be a first class passenger. Well, one can dream though.

At 21.51 SGT, the crew ordered over the PA ‘cabin crew arm the doors and cross-check’. Maybe it was time for me to get back to my seat.



ที่นั่งคู่ตรงกลางจะมีแผงกั้นปรับขึ้นลงได้ (แต่ดูเหมือนต้องปรับด้วยมือ) สังเกตอีกอย่างคือทุกที่นั่งจะมีแผงควบคุมอันเล็กๆ อีกอันตรงด้านริมทางเดิน เวลาที่นอนลงแล้วจะได้ปรับที่นั่งง่ายขึ้น
Each middle seat pairs have a manually movable divider. Note the small seat control panel on the aisle side, designed to make it much easier to adjust the seat in fully reclined position.

กลับมานั่งที่เดิมแล้วครับ 12A เป็นที่นั่งหน้าสุดของแถวริมหน้าต่าง ช่องใส่เท้าเลยเป็นหลืบเข้าไปในผนังแบบนี้
12A is positioned right behind the bulkhead, so the footwell was differently designed when compared to other seats. Looks like a hole in the bulkhead.



อาจจะดูเหมือนแคบ แต่ผมสูง 183 เวลายืดขาสุดก็เป็นแบบนี้
It might look tight. But there were still some space left even I fully stretched my legs, and I am 183 centimeters tall.

The flight attendants distributed the specially-themed macaroons, with ‘A380’ and ‘THAI’ printed on the surface and some kind of jam (blueberry, maybe?) inside.

But I saw a guy still engaged in a photoshoot session. So I decided, this is one-of-the-lifetime experience, how could I miss out?

The young female FA was taking orders for supper. Menus were already in the seat pocket.

การถ่ายรูปผ่านหน้าต่างของ A380 ทำได้ค่อนข้างยากครับ เนื่องจากผนังห้องโดยสารโค้งและอยู่ห่างจากหน้าต่างด้านนอกเยอะกว่าเครื่องบินชนิดอื่นๆ ถ้าใครได้ขึ้น A380 มาแล้วจะเข้าใจเป็นอย่างดี
And it was really time to get seat seated and strap in. Looked outside and saw an Air France 77W getting ready for a journey back to Paris as AF 257.
Taking photos through an A380 window is pretty tricky. The sidewall is curved and comparatively further from the external fuselage than other passenger aircraft.

At 22.08, 8 minutes after scheduled departure time, ‘Si Rattana‘ began its journey back to Bangkok. Is there anyone who notices that this is the first time for TG’s A380?



วันนี้บินแค่เบาๆ 1418 กิโลเมตรเท่านั้น
Only 1418 kilometers. A piece of cake for this majestic bird.



IFE ใหม่นี่มีแผนที่การบินให้ดูกันหลายแบบมากครับ ดูไปก็ทึ่งไป แต่ต้องขออภัยที่ไม่ได้ทำรีวิว IFE มาเหมือนคราวก่อนนะครับ เพราะมีอะไรให้เล่นเยอะมากๆ เวลาบินแค่สองชั่วโมงทำไม่ทันครับ

พอถอยเรียบร้อย ก็ได้เวลาของเครื่องยนต์ Roll-Royce Trent 970 ทั้งสี่เครื่องพาเจ้าปลาวาฬยักษ์และผู้โดยสารอีกกว่า 500 คนให้เริ่มเคลื่อนไหว และสิ่งหนึ่งที่ผมรู้สึกทันทีคือ ที่เค้าบอกว่า A380 เงียบนี้ไม่ได้โม้นะครับ มันเป็นแบบนั้นจริงๆ ผมแทบไม่รู้เลยว่าเครื่องยนต์สตาร์ทแล้วจนกระทั่งเครื่องเริ่มแท็กซี่นั่นละครับ
And now it was the showtime for all 4 Rolls-Royce Trent 970 engines. And one thing really strikes me, that all the claims about A380 unique quietness is absolutely true! I did not notice that the engines were already ignited until the plane was taxiing on its own power.

วันนี้คุณศรีรัตนะ taxi มาทางตะวันออกของชางงี เราจะบินขึ้นจากรันเวย์ 20L รันเวย์ขึ้นหลักในช่วงนั้นของปีครับ ระหว่างนั้นก็เห็นเครื่องอะไรหางแดงๆ ลายพร้อยๆ....
นี่คือไทยแอร์เอเชียเที่ยวบิน FD 3510 บินไปดอนเมืองครับ A320 หางแดงเจอ A380 ของป้าม่วงไป จ๋อยเลยทีนี้ ถ้าเทียบกัน พื้นที่แพนหางระดับของ A380 เกือบจะเท่ากับพื้นที่ปีกของ A320 กันเลยทีเดียว
“Si Rattana” taxied to the east for departure from 20L, the primary runway for take-offs during this time of the year. When the plane almost reached the threshold, I saw a red-tailed, delicately painted aircraft....
This A320 belongs to Thai AirAsia, flying FD 3510 to Don Mueang tonight. It is astounding that the surface area of a horizontal stabilizer on the A380 almost equals the wing surface area of the A320!

ได้เวลาที่คุณศรีรัตนะจะได้บินขึ้นจากท่าอากาศยานนานาชาติชางงีเป็นครั้งแรกแล้วครับ และตรงนี้เองที่ A380 ทำให้ผมทึ่งอีกครั้ง เพราะแทบจะไม่ได้ยินเสียงจากเครื่องยนต์เลย มีแค่เสียงหึ่งๆ เบาๆ เท่านั้น เวลาเครื่องลอยขึ้นก็เป็นไปอย่างนุ่มนวลและเงียบมากๆ นี่แหละครับที่เค้าเรียกว่า “The Smoothest Way to Fly”
Here is the clip of Si Rattana’s first liftoff from Changi, and that was the A380 impressed me again. I still heard the Trents spooling up, but the sound was somehow low and muffled, and the common vibrations associated with the takeoff are just....absent.
Now I think I understand the phrase THAI repeatedly uses in their A380 commercials ‘The Smoothest Way to Fly’. It is, it really is.

Si Rattana then banked to the left and made a u-turn toward the northwest. A small vortex was visible over the huge wing. Almost looked like an apparition.

Once the fasten seatbelt sign was extinguished, it was time to explore this seat, Solstys from EADS Sogerma.

This is the first fully flat seat model for TG. It looks like this when fully reclined.





ถึงจะดูเหมือนแคบแต่ก็ยาวพอให้คนตัวสูงอย่างผมนอนราบเหยียดขาได้สบาย จะว่าไปคือถ้าสูงกว่านี้ก็คงต้องคู้ตัวกันบ้างล่ะครับ สิ่งที่ผมชอบมากๆ อย่างหนึ่งคือความเป็นส่วนตัวของที่นั่งนี้ครับ เหมือนมีผนังกั้นเป็นสัดส่วนดี

It might look short, but do not let the pictures fool you. It is actually just long enough for a tall guy like me to lie down and fully stretch my legs. Put it the other way, anyone taller than me would have some difficulties, depending on the height. What I really like about these seats is the sense of privacy and seclusion, something I really need when flying long-haul.
Now let’s see the lounge position. Note that this seat utilizes a 3-point seatbelt.

ประมาณ 15 นาทีหลังเครื่องขึ้น คุณแอร์ก็มาถามว่าจะขอรับเครื่องดื่มอะไรดี ผมขอรับน้ำอุ่นก่อนครับ ตอนนั้นอาการเจ็บคอทวีความรุนแรงขึ้นเรื่อยๆ คุณแอร์ทำหน้าแปลกใจเล็กน้อยก่อนถามว่าผมจะรับอาหารเย็นเป็นอะไรดี ผมอยากเลือกดื่มอย่างอื่นเหมือนกันนะครับ แต่ไม่ไหวจริงๆ
แล้วน้ำอุ่นก็มาพร้อมกับถั่วหิมพานต์อบเกลือซองเล็ก กินไปก็จิบน้ำไป
Approximately 15 minutes after liftoff, the female FA approached and ask me which kind of drinks I would like. My sore throat was deteriorating, so I chose a glass of warm water. She gave me a bit puzzled look then asked me what I would like for dinner.
I wish I could choose something more exotic, but I really can’t.
A glass of water arrived with a packet of cashew nuts.

หูฟังชนิดตัดเสียงภายนอก (ยี่ห้อการบินไทย??) มาพร้อมกับผ้าเช็ดทำความสะอาด และแผ่นกระดาษเล็กๆ แจ้งว่าอย่าเอาออกจากเครื่องนะ สังเกตว่ารุ่นนี้เป็นหูฟังแบบสามขานะครับ ระหว่างนั้นผมก็เสียบไอโฟนกับช่องต่อ USB เพื่อชาร์จ ทำให้ IFE นิ่งค้างไปทันใด ผมเรียกกับคุณสจ๊วตที่เดินผ่านมา เค้าก็บอกว่าจะมารีเซ็ตให้ แต่สุดท้ายก็ไม่ได้ทำเพราะงานในเคบินยุ่งมาก ผมเลยแทบไม่ได้ลองใช้ IFE รุ่นใหม่นี้เลยครับ
THAI-branded noise-canceling headphones. Also included in the plastic bag were a piece of cleaning wiper and a small note, indicating that it cannot be removed from the aircraft.
Meanwhile, I plugged my iPhone into the USB port provided, and the system just froze. I notified a passing FA. He said he would come to fix it, but eventually did not. Still understandable though, considering the amount of works needed to be done on this short flight.

หลังจากที่เครื่องดื่มรอบแรกถูกเสิร์ฟได้ไม่นาน ไฟรัดเข็มขัดก็ติดขึ้นพร้อมเสียงประกาศให้ผู้โดยสารทุกคนนั่งที่และมีความจำเป็นต้องหยุดให้บริการชั่วคราว แล้วก็ตามมาด้วยการตกหลุมอากาศเล็กๆ น้อยๆ ซึ่งคงเป็นเรื่องปกติสำหรับแถวนี้นะครับ แต่ถึงจะไม่มีอะไรถ้าน้ำหกใส่ตัวคงจะขำไม่ออก ผมเลยรีบดื่มให้หมดก่อน
15 นาทีหลังจากนั้นไฟรัดเข็มขัดก็ดับลง และพนักงานต้อนรับก็เริ่มให้บริการอาหารค่ำกันอย่างรวดเร็ว นึกถึงที่พี่แอร์ขามาบอกว่าเสิร์ฟอาหารเย็นละตัวยุ่ง คราวนี้เวลาหดไปอีก 15 นาทีแถมยังเป็นเครื่องใหม่ที่เริ่มใช้วันแรก ยุ่งกันน่าดูละครับทีนี้
After the first drink service concluded, the fasten seatbelt sign blinked on and the head FA announced that we would be flying through some turbulences. What followed was some light to moderate chops, not severe enough to scare me but enough spill your favorite drink nevertheless.
The fasten seatbelt sign disappeared again after 15 minutes. That means 15 less minutes to conduct services on this 2 hour-less flight, and more workload on the FAs.

Here comes the first servings. Tightly wrapped fork and spoon, crackers, butter (with TG logo on its surface, of course), pepper, salt and a small golden paper box were also included in the tray.

ต้องบอกว่าวุ้นอาหารทะเลนี่แทบจะแช่แข็งมาเลยทีเดียว กัดไปรู้สึกได้ถึงน้ำแข็งเลยอาจจะไม่ค่อยถูกปากนัก (มีผู้โดยสารคนหนึ่งข้างหลังขอเปลี่ยนด้วยครับ บอกว่าแข็งไป) แต่แซลมอนและมะเขือเทศลูกเล็กนี่อร่อยดีครับ
The seafood aspic was quite frozen. I could even feel the ice cracking in my mouth while bitting. And it was not just me. A passenger behind even returned the dish because it was too frozen for his liking. It is still acceptable for me though, at least the salmon and cherry tomato were nice.

ขอแชมเปญ Laurent - Perrier มาดื่มสักแก้ว ถึงจะเจ็บคอก็ต้องขอนิดนึง ได้มานั่งชั้นไหมหลวงจะดื่มแต่น้ำอุ่นก็คงไม่ได้นะครับ
A glass of Laurent-Perrier for me. Drinking only warm water when seated in business class might be a bit inappropriate.



และคุณสจ๊วตก็เดินแจกขนมปังกระเทียมพร้อมสีหน้ายิ้มแย้มครับ ผมอึ้งไปเล็กน้อย นึกว่าจะมีแค่ขนมปังธรรมดาๆ อาจจะไม่กรอบเหมือนเพิ่งออกมาจากเตาแต่ก็อร่อยดีครับ กลิ่นกระเทียมหอมได้ใจ
Then a smiling male FA began to distribute garlic bread. I was surprised, though there would be only simple ones. It might not be freshly baked but still full of aromas nonetheless.



และถ้าเราจำเป็นต้องลุกไปทำธุระก็สามารถดันโต๊ะออกไปได้แบบนี้ครับ
The table joints has a swiveling mechanism, so if you need to get out of the seat, just push the table forward like this.

พอคุณแอร์เก็บจานอาหารเรียกน้ำย่อยไปก็ได้เวลาของอาหารจานหลักครับ คราวนี้ผมเลือกปลากะพงผัดกะเพรา ทันทีที่คุณแอร์วางอาหารบนโต๊ะ กลิ่นข้าวหอมและกะเพราก็ลอยขึ้นมาทันที
And here comes the main course. I chose the Thai snapper sautéed with chilli and rice.
Looks really appetizing, isn’t it?



มาดูกันให้ชัดๆ ครับ ปลากะพงเนื้อขาวๆ กับพริกและกะเพราะอร่อยมากทีเดียว ทำออกมาได้เผ็ดพอสมควรด้วยครับ ถูกปากคนไทยอย่างเราๆ แน่นอน
A closer look to this snapper sautéed. It tasted really, really good, and spicy enough for the likes of Thais.



แต่ด้วยความปวดท้อง สุดท้ายผมก็กินไม่หมดครับ แต่เหลือแค่ข้าวนะครับ เพราะปลาอร่อยมากๆ
I did not eat all of it though, since my stomach did not felt so good.

ระหว่างกำลังทานผัดกะเพราะอยู่นั้น คุณ inflight manager ก็เดินมาและคุกเข่าคุยกับผมว่าจะขออนุญาตให้ตอบแบบสอบถามความพึงพอใจบนเที่ยวบินนี้ ซึ่งผมก็ยินดีเป็นอย่างยิ่งครับ ยิ่งเห็นความตั้งใจของคุณพี่สจ๊วตคนนี้ด้วย
While I was enjoying my snapper, the inflight manager knelt just next to my seat, introduced himself, and asked me if I could fill the customer satisfaction survey. I was more than welcome, given his genuine enthusiasm and smile.

พอทานเสร็จได้ไม่นานคุณแอร์ก็มาเก็บจานและเริ่มเสิร์ฟของหวานเป็นขนมฟักทองโรยมะพร้าวขูดครับ และพอแชมเปญหมดผมก็ขอน้ำอุ่นอีกแก้วครับ ทนเจ็บคอจากการกินของเย็นต่อไม่ไหว
After the trays were collected, desserts were served. Pumpkin delights for tonight.
I decided against filling my glass with more champagne. My sore throat seemed to worsen even more.



ตักขึ้นมาก็หน้าตาแบบนี้ รสชาติถือว่าพอทานได้ ถ้าท้องไส้ผมดีกว่านี้ก็คงจะทานหมดครับ แต่วันนั้นไม่ไหวจริงๆ เลยทานไปได้แค่ครึ่งเดียว
It tasted average. I could have consumed it all if my stomach had felt better.

Two delicious-looking chocolate pralines. Still inside the refrigerators at my house though.
