แต่สนามบินนี้ไม่ได้มีแค่ TG lounge นั่งได้อีกสักพักผมก็เดินออกไปสำรวจต่อ ผมจึงถามพนักงานที่เคาน์เตอร์ว่า
But TG lounge is not the only attraction in this airport. Let’s go and explore it. I started by inquiring the Singaporean agent at the counter.
“Excuse me, I have something to ask you”
“Yes, sir?”
“Is there any other lounges that I can get in?”
“Well, it’s not in this terminal. Maybe you can go to Terminal 3. There is a Star Alliance lounge there”
“A Star Alliance lounge?” (I was perplexed. A Star Alliance lounge at Changi?) “I’ve already planned to go to Terminal 3. Maybe I can find it there. Thank you”

At the main hall of Terminal 3, featuring its iconic ceiling. It is bright, wide, airy and peaceful.

ตรงนี้มีสระปลาคาร์พและเก้าอี้นุ่มๆ น่านั่งวางอยู่รอบๆ เป็นปริเวณที่สงบมากๆ ครับ สิ่งหนึ่งที่ผมรู้สึกคือสนามบินนี้เค้าจัดที่นั่งไว้ให้เยอะมาก ไม่ว่าตรงไหนก็มี
Here is the Koi Pond, with green lounge chairs placed around the place. Very quiet and peaceful. I do note that Changi provides lots of seatings, everywhere around the airport.



ยังมีป้ายเล่าความเป็นมาว่าทำไมต้องเลี้ยงปลาคาร์พด้วย ถ้าใครอยากมาให้อาหารปลาก็ตอนเก้าโมงเช้าและสี่โมงเย็นนะครับ

I entered the enclosed area. My first impression was..where are all the butterflies??. Sleeping, maybe?

Saw a staircase leading up to somewhere so I walked up.



จริงๆ ก็คือขึ้นไปที่ชั้นบนของสนามบินนั่นแหละครับ ตรงนี้นี่เองที่ได้เห็นผีเสื้อตัวเป็นๆ เกาะอยู่ นึกว่าจะไม่เห็นซะแล้ว ตัวจริงคือสีขาวลายดำเท่านั้นนะครับ
The staircase leads back to the terminal, where there is another entrance to the garden. Finally I got to see some real butterflies! Only the white ones with black stripes though.

After a quick visit to toilet, I saw the touch screen for evaluating customer satisfaction. Are there any other airports out there that have something like this??

The quest for Terminal 3 lounge ensued. Really like the phrase ‘more food options’, as there are definitely lots of them. Both in the public area and the airside.

บริเวณหลังจุดตรวจหนังสือเดินทางของเทอร์มินัล 3 ครับ เป็นโถงที่กว้างใหญ่สวยงามดี
The main hall of Terminal 3, right after immigration counters. Quite impressive.



สิ่งหนึ่งที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์ของที่นี่คือหลังคาซึ่งออกแบบคล้ายผีเสื้อ เวลากลางวันสามารถปล่อยให้แสงภายนอกเข้ามาโดยมีระบบควบคุมให้เหมาะสม และในตอนกลางคืนก็ใช้ไฟส่องสว่างที่ซ่อนอยู่ สะท้อนลงมาเลียนแบบแสงธรรมชาติครับ
One of the most outstanding features of Terminal 3 is the unique ‘butterfly’ roof. Designed to let the sunlight comes in during the day, with an adjustable reflector system to control the light and heat to an optimum level. At night, the concealed artificial lighting system brightens to resemble the natural light.

เดินได้อีกนิดเดียวก็ถึงบริเวณห้องรับรองทั้งหลายครับ ผมเข้าไปที่ KrisFlyer Gold lounge ก่อน พอพนักงานเห็น boarding pass เธอบอกว่าให้ไปอีกที่นึง เลี้ยวตรงหัวมุมไปอีกหน่อย
พอเดินไปถึงรู้ว่าที่พนักงาน TG lounge บอกไม่ใช่ Star Lounge จริงๆ ด้วย เค้าพูดถึง SilverKris Lounge ห้องรับรองหลักของผู้โดยสารชั้นธุรกิจและชั้นหนึ่งของสายการบินใน Star Alliance และเป็น lounge ใหญ่ที่สุดของ SQ ครับ
I entered the KrisFlyer Gold lounge first. The attendant saw my boarding pass and said that I was invited at the other one around the corner. I began to realize that what the TG lounge agent had told me was definitely not a Star Alliance lounge, but it was the SilverKris Lounge! First and business class passengers of all Star Alliance airlines are welcomed here, at this flagship lounge for SQ.

I presented my boarding pass. The middle-aged female attendant read it and said that I was definitely welcomed here. But since TG departs from Terminal 1, she warned that there would not be any announcements about my flight.



หลังจากถ่ายภาพนี้เสร็จคุณพนักงานก็บอกว่าคุณไม่ควรถ่ายรูปข้างในนะ ผู้โดยสารคนอื่นอาจจะไม่ชอบ ผมก็เลยตกลงว่าจะไม่ถ่ายครับ (ไม่ถ่ายด้วยกล้องนี้นะ แต่คิดในใจว่าจะใช้ไอโฟนแอบถ่ายเอาแทนก็ได้ ไม่ติดหน้าคนอื่นเป็นพอ)
After I took this photo, the female attendant notified me that I was not supposed to take photos here, because other passengers might find it intrusive. I accepted accordingly, okay, I won’t take any photos (with this camera I can took them using my iPhone instead. Discreetly)

นั่งลงใกล้ทีวีจอยักษ์ที่เปิดเสียงเบาๆ ใครกำลังเตะอยู่หว่า
I sat down near a huge LCD television. The TV emitted a low sound, but still audible.



ลุกไปหาอะไรกินกันก่อนดีกว่าครับ ที่นี่มีอาหารให้เลือกหลายชนิด เท่าที่ผมจำได้ก็มีแกงแบบอินเดีย ลิงกวินี่ผัดครีมกุ้ง ผัดเห็ดกับเนื้อ ติ่มซำ แฮม ผลไม้และอื่นๆ นอกจากนี้ยังจัดบริเวณโต๊ะทานอาหารแยกต่างหาก เหมือนภัตตาคารบุฟเฟต์เลยครับ
Let’s see the food offerings. Numerous Singaporean and international dishes were served, including (what I remember) Indian-style curry, linguini with shrimp in cream sauce, sautéed beef and mushroom, various dim-sum, ham and some fresh fruits. The lounge also has a dedicated eating area with restaurant-style tables and chairs, a marble bar and wooden bar stools.



ผมตักมาได้เท่านี้ครับ ส่วนเครื่องดื่มก็ทานได้แค่น้ำอุ่น ผมรู้สึกมวนๆ ในท้องและเจ็บคอมากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ ตั้งแต่ช่วงบ่ายแล้วครับ
That was all I ate at the lounge today, together with a glass of warm water. My stomach increasingly felt uncomfortable and my throat became sore.

Wine and champagne bottles placed in an ice bucket. Two examples here are 2010 Errazuriz Chardonnay Wild Ferment from Aconcagua Valley, Chile and Charles Heidsieck Brut Réserve from Champagne, France. If I remember correctly, the latter one won quite a number of awards too.

The marble toilet. Luxurious isn’t it.
Hand soap, hand cream, toothbrushes and paper cups are available.

Here’s the shower room. It was not staffed, unlike what I have experienced at LH lounge in Munich or the ANA lounge at Narita.

Shower with massage features. Soap and shampoo is in the wall-mounted dispenser. It is essentially ‘all marble’.

สำรวจห้องน้ำ (อย่างเงียบๆ) เสร็จก็กลับมานั่งที่ เก้าอี้ที่นี่เป็นหนังสีดำล้วนพร้อมโต๊ะไม้สีน้ำตาลเข้ม บรรยากาศเลยค่อนข้างดูขรึมๆ แต่รูปนี้คงบอกขนาดของ lounge ได้ไม่ชัด กะคร่าวๆ จากสายตาน่าจะประมาณ 2 - 3 เท่าของ TG lounge ที่ผมเข้าเมื่อเช้าที่สุวรรณภูมินะครับ
The armchairs were mostly upholstered by dark leather, with a wooden side table. This lounge exhibits a sense of understated elegance and a bit of reservedness. It is basically 2 - 3 times larger than the biggest TG lounge at Suvarnabhumi.

One major downside of this lounge is there is no outside view.

มองดูนาฬิกาตัวเอง เลยสามทุ่มไปสิบนาทีแล้ว แล้วนี่ผมอยู่ฝั่งใต้ของ T3 แทบจะอยู่ฝั่งตรงข้ามของเกท D46 พอดี รีบไปดีกว่าครับ
พอคิดดู ถ้าจะนั่งรถไฟสายเดิมก็ต้องลากขาข้ามเทอร์มินัล 1 ไปอีก ท่าจะไม่ไหว ลองขึ้นรถไฟไป Terminal 2 แล้วขึ้นอีกสายไป Terminal 1 ดีกว่า จะได้ไปชมอาคารของชางงีให้ครบด้วย
It was 10 minutes past 9 PM, only an hour before my return flight departure but I was still sitting here, at the opposite side of the airport. So I sprang out of my seat, picked up my belongings, bid a farewell to the attendants who wished me a pleasant flight, and walked quickly downstairs. Then I thought, if I took the same skytrain, I would have to walk all the way through Terminal 1. That did not sound good. So I decided took a skytrain to Terminal 2, walk through that terminal, and took another skytrain to Terminal 1. This also enabled me to see all Changi terminals in one visit.

เทอร์มินัล 2 เป็นอาคารผู้โดยสารหลังที่สองของสนามบินชางงี เปิดรับผู้โดยสารเมื่อวันที่ 22 พฤศจิกายน 1990 (อายุเท่าผมพอดีเลยแหะ) เที่ยวบินของ SQ ทั้งหมดเคยออกที่นี่จนกระทั่งเทอร์มินัล 3 เปิดทำการจึงย้ายเที่ยวบินส่วนใหญ่ออกไป คงเหลือแต่เที่ยวบินในภูมิภาคที่ยังใช้ที่นี่อยู่ (ซึ่งรวมถึงเที่ยวบินไปกรุงเทพด้วย) นอกจากนี้สายการบินต้นทุนต่ำจาก Budget Terminal ทั้งหมดก็ย้ายมาใช้ที่นี่จนกว่า Terminal 4 จะสร้างเสร็จในปี 2017 ครับ
สิ่งที่ผมรู้สึกได้ทันทีคือ เพดานต่ำจัง T2 ยังไม่ได้รับการปรับปรุงโฉมครั้งใหญ่เหมือน T1 ครับ
Terminal 2 is the second passenger terminal at Changi, opened doors to passengers on November 22, 1990. All SQ flights used to leave from this terminal before the inception of Terminal 3, where most flights were moved to. A number of SQ regional flight remains here, however, including flights to and from Bangkok. Besides, all flights that previously operated to and from the Budget Terminal were moved here until the new Terminal 4 completes sometime in 2017.
T2 ceiling are quite low when compared to its companions. It has not undergone a major facelift like T1, yet.

This All Nippon Airways flight were calling the last passengers. See the huge, 3.4m tall blended winglets. All Nippon Airways consistently operates newer 767s with winglets and newer IFE to Singapore, while Bangkok receives only older ones...

ในที่สุดก็เดินมาถึงชานชาลา skytrain ไป T1 อีกด้านเป็นชานชาลาไป T3 ที่รถไฟเพิ่งออกไป ฝรั่งกลุ่มนั้นพยายามวิ่งมาขึ้นรถให้ทัน แต่พอประตูรถจะปิดก็กรี๊ดกันใหญ่ จะรีบทำไมล่ะคุณพี่
Arrived at the skytrain to T1 and T3 platform. The train to T3 just left. That group of foreigners ran to catch the train. to no avail. They literally screamed when the doors began to close. Why hurry, guys?

นั่งรถไฟมาถึง T1 ก็รีบเดินต่อครับ ขณะนั้นเป็นเวลา 21.35 เข้าไปแล้ว เจอป้ายทางไป D46 ก็เดินตามไปเรื่อยๆ แต่ 7 นาทีเลยเหรอ ผมต้องเดินได้เร็วกว่านั้นน่า...
Finally arrived at Terminal 1 only 25 minutes before scheduled departure time. Looked at sign leading to D46 and it said ‘up to 7 mins’. 7 minutes?! Maybe I can walk faster than that.



ผมเดินสองนาทีกว่าๆ ก็ถึงครับ (เมื่อยจะแย่) ยืนยันว่าเป็นการบินไทย TG 410 ไปกรุงเทพไม่ผิดแน่นอน แต่ขึ้นว่า Gate Closing แล้วครับ
After a quick 2-minute walk, I arrived at D46. The LCD screen unmistakably indicated that this was indeed TG 410 to Bangkok. But it also showed ‘Gate Closing’.

ผมเดินเข้าไปที่เกท ยื่น boarding pass ให้เจ้าหน้าที่หญิงตรวจ นำสัมภาระเข้าเครื่องเอกซเรย์และเดินผ่านเครื่องตรวจอาวุธเหมือนที่ทำเวลาขึ้นเครื่องทุกครั้ง (ที่นี่ใช้ระบบตรวจแยกของแต่ละเกท) เมื่อผ่านจุดตรวจ ที่อยู่ตรงหน้าก็คือพระเอกของผมในวันนี้ เป็นสิ่งที่ผมวางแผนมานานกว่าห้าเดือน ทุกอย่างอยู่ตรงหน้าแล้วครับ
I walked inside, gave the boarding pass to a female agent for confirmatory checks, put my bags through the scanner and walked through the metal detector like before any flight. But what stood before me, through the glass panel, is everything I had planned during the past 5 months. It all comes to this point.



หลังจากนั้นพนักงานก็นำ boarding pass ของผมไปสแกนแล้วฉีกทันที อารามตกใจ (เพราะยังไม่ได้ถ่าย) จึงพยายามห้ามแต่ก็ไม่ทัน ดังนั้นขอเว้นรูป boarding pass นะครับ ถ่ายเครื่องบินดีกว่า คราวนี้กันแสงสะท้อนได้ดีขึ้นหน่อย
Another attempt. Fortunately this time I managed to get rid of reflections.



D46 เป็นหนึ่งใน 19 เกทที่สามารถรองรับ A380 ได้ที่ชางงี ซึ่งกระจายเป็นที่ T1 5 เกท T2 6 เกทและ T3 มีอีก 8 เกทด้วยกัน ปกติตรงนี้้เป็นที่ประจำของ Air France A380 ซึ่งไม่ได้มาในวันนี้ (ส่ง 777-300ER มาแทน) เห็นว่าถ้า Air France มา การบินไทยจะย้ายไปที่อื่นอย่างที่เกท C23, 25 หรือ 26 แทน
Gate D46 is one of 19 A380-capable gates that spread throughout the airport. T1 has 5, T2 has 6 and T3 has 8 of them. Air France A380 generally leaves at this gate, except on Saturdays when 77Ws are scheduled.

I was one of the last passengers to board the aircraft. The ground staff were still there to greet passengers and distribute souvenirs for every passengers, which is the baggage tag showed in the first post.



เข้ามาแล้วก็เจอกราวน์อีกจำนวนหนึ่งคอยช่วยบอกทางขึ้นเครื่องที่ถูกต้องให้ผู้โดยสาร คุณเจ้าหน้าที่เสื้อส้มทางซ้ายเหมือนจะพยายามเรียกผมให้ไปทางซ้าย แต่เสียใจด้วย วันนี้ผมขึ้นชั้นบนครับ
Still more ground staff along the way. The female agent in orange jacket tried to lead me to the lower economy class cabin but sorry, it’s upper deck for today.



ครั้งแรกกับการเดินขึ้นทางลาดไปขึ้นเครื่อง
Walking up toward the aircraft for the first time.

สิ่งแรกที่ต้อนรับผมคือคุณพี่แอร์สองคนกำลังถ่ายรูปกันอย่างตื่นเต้นครับ ผมเลยสวัสดีครับไปรอบนึงคุณพี่ถึงหันมา แต่ถือว่าเราเข้าใจกันนะครับ ก็วันแรกเองนี่นา ผมเลยขออนุญาตถ่ายรูปไว้เป็นที่ระลึก
Once I approached the aircraft, the two female female flight attendants were still excitedly taking photos of each other. I greeted them by saying “Sawasdee Krub” and they greeted me in return. It is totally acceptable, after all, because this was the first day of A380 operations for TG!



และสิ่งที่ขาดไม่ได้เลยคือมุมบังคับครับ เธอช่างใหญ่จริงๆ เลย
The really obligatory shot. She is just...tremendous.

I reached my seat in no time. I chose 12A, (one of) the frontmost window seat in Royal Silk Class.
