After an almost 3 hours wait, another SQ whalejet arrived (the first one I saw was just as I was getting out of a taxi).

9V-SKR is the third youngest A380 in its fleet, only 9V-SKS and 9V-SKT are newer. Singapore Airlines has received all 19 A380s they ordered (while THAI just received its first!).

Singapore Airlines flight SQ 175 from Hanoi. Even the livery is rather special, it still did not interest me much since I saw it countless of times in Bangkok!

แล้วก็อีกลำหนึ่ง แต่สิ่งที่ต่างคือลำนี้เป็น 777-200ER ที่ติดตั้งเครื่องยนต์ Trent 892 เหมือนแบบทั่วไปทำให้ใช้บินไกลได้อย่างลำนี้ที่บินมาจากไครส์เชิร์ช SQ 772ER ทุกลำที่ถ่ายก่อนหน้านี้เป็นรุ่น derate ใช้บินในภูมิภาคครับ
There is something different about this aircraft. It comes with the RR Trent 892 engines, the same as other 772ERs. All SQ 772ERs that I took earlier today were the derated model for use in regional hops.

คุณจิงโจ้มาอีกลำแล้วครับ ที่จริงลำนี้ก็มากรุงเทพออกจะบ่อย แต่พอหลังจาก Qantas ปรับเวลาเที่ยวบินมากรุงเทพก็มักจะมาถึงหลังดวงอาทิตย์ลับขอบฟ้า QF เลยกลายเป็นของหายากไปตามระเบียบ
ตามตารางบิน ผมคิดว่าน่าจะมี A330 ของ QF มาลงที่สิงคโปร์แค่ลำเดียวคือ QF 77 จากเพิร์ธ พอลำนี้มาเลยงงว่ามาจากไหน จนกลับมาลองเปิดหาข้อมูลจึงเจอว่าลำนี้บินแทน British Airways เที่ยวบิน BA 16 ของเมื่อวานที่ถูกยกเลิกไปครับ
Another flying kangaroo. I was quite surprised to see another Qantas A330 here since the schedule displayed only one, which was QF 77 from Perth. After a quick search, it turned out to be a special flight, carrying British Airways’ passengers for the cancelled BA 16 on October 5th. QF 6022 from Sydney.

Qantas ใช้ A380 บิน kangaroo route จากลอนดอนผ่านสิงคโปร์วันละสองเที่ยวบิน ลำหนึ่งไปซิดนีย์ อีกลำไปเมลเบิร์น แต่ภาพเหล่านี้กำลังจะเป็นอดีตนับตั้งแต่เดือนเมษาปีหน้าเป็นต้นไป เมื่อ Qantas เปลี่ยนไปแวะที่ดูไบแทนสิงคโปร์หลังข้อตกลงกับ EK ครับ
Yet another bigger kangaroo arrived. This is the first time I saw QF A380 as a person.
Qantas operates 2 kangaroo flights between London and Australia, one terminates in Sydney and the other terminates in Melbourne. This will be a history from April 2013 onwards, when Dubai replaces Singapore as a stopover point under the new agreement with EK and QF ceases A380 operations into Singapore.

มองไปไกลๆ แทบจะร้องออกมาดังๆ ผมอยากเก็บภาพเอทิฮัด A332 มากๆ (เพราะพี่แกเล่นส่งแต่ 77W มาบ้านเรา และยังไม่มีวี่แววว่าจะ downsize ง่ายๆ) แต่ดันส่งไปลงที่ 20L ซะงั้น พลาดเลยครับ
เอทิฮัดบินมาสิงคโปร์น้อยที่สุดแล้วในกลุ่มสามยักษ์ใหญ่แห่งตะวันออกกลาง ยังไม่ได้บินมาทุกวันด้วยซ้ำแต่พี่แกบินต่อไปบริสเบนด้วย อย่างลำนี้ก็เพิ่งกลับมาครับ
I was quite disappointed to see that Etihad landed on 20L. Etihad does not operate anything other than 77Ws to Bangkok so I had hoped that I could catch the A332 here.
Etihad has the least presence in Singapore when compared to the other two big gulf states airlines. The flight is not even daily.
EY 473 from Brisbane. Singapore serves as a stopover for this flight.

Part 4 : The Fascinating Changi International Airport

จากนั้นผมก็หาแท็กซี่จากแถวนั้นกลับมาที่ชางงี แอบกลับเล็กน้อยเพราะในเว็บ spotterswiki เตือนว่าอาจโบกยาก พอโบกได้เลยขึ้นเลย ทั้งที่รู้ว่าเป็น MaxiCab (คล้ายๆ อินโนว่าบ้านเรา) เลยโดนชาร์จเพิ่ม แต่เอาเถอะครับ ได้ก็ดีแล้ว
พอบอกว่าตะกี้ดูเครื่องบิน พี่แกเลยพาผมไปทาง Changi Coast Road ผ่านทางตะวันออกของสนามบินเลียบรันเวย์ 20L ใจอยากบอกว่าไม่ต้องก็ได้ ตรงนั้นเค้าห้ามถ่ายรูป สุดท้ายก็ปล่อยเลยตามเลย กลายเป็นว่าระยะทางไกลขึ้นอีก 5 กิโล ค่าแท็กซี่ปาเข้าไป 12 ดอลลาร์ (ราวๆ 300 บาท) แต่เอาเถอะครับ พี่แกก็คุยสนุกดี เป็นอีกคนที่ดูงงว่าทำไมผมมาแค่วันเดียว คราวหน้ายูต้องไปปูเลาอูบินนะๆๆ (ท่าทางคนแถวนี้จะชอบจริงๆ) เนี่ยอีกอย่างเพื่อนไอก็กำลังจะไปเมืองไทยพอดี ผมก็พูดและยิ้มไปตามเรื่องตามราว แอบคิดว่าฉันไม่ต้องถ่อมาถึงสิงคโปร์เพื่อดูธรรมชาติหรอกฟ่ะ
I decided to ride a taxi back to Changi. The spotterswiki website warns that getting a taxi there might be hard, so I get into the first one that stopped, even if it was a MaxiCab which has higher flag down rate (SGD3.40 instead of 3.20).
Once the driver learned that I came to the beach for spotting, he took the longer route to the airport along Changi Coast Road, running parallel to 20L. I did not want to go there (spotting is prohibited along that road) but I just let him drive. At least he was friendly. He was astonished to learn that I would be here for only one day, and he even recommended Pulau Ubin as the next destination if I would ever come to Singapore again.
(Me thinks, I don’t have to come to Singapore to see the nature!!)

มาถึงที่เทอร์มินัล 1 แล้ว สิ่งแรกที่ผมเห็น และทำให้ต้องยืนดูอีกพักใหญ่คือสิ่งนี้ครับ เค้าเรียกว่า “Kinetic Rain”
And here I arrived at Terminal 1. Just as I entered the building, I saw this unique structure called ‘Kinetic Rain’. This left me standing still for a few minutes.



ถึงจะดูเหมือนไม่มีอะไรแต่พอเห็นหยดน้ำสีทองแดงเคลื่อนไหวขึ้นๆ ลงๆ อย่างสวยงามสักพักก็ต้องหยุดดู และไม่ใช่ผมคนเดียวด้วยนะครับ
Maybe a still picture does not do it justice. The synchronous moves of these copper brown teardrop-shaped objects were staggeringly beautiful.

เทอร์มินัล 1 เป็นอาคารแรกของสนามบินชางงี เปิดรับผู้โดยสารครั้งแรกเมื่อปี 1981 หรือกว่า 30 ปีที่แล้ว อาคารนี้ได้รับการปรับปรุงหลายครั้ง ครั้งหลังสุดและใหญ่ที่สุดเพิ่งเสร็จเมื่อเดือนกรกฎาคมที่ผ่านมา ออกมาสวยทีเดียวครับ ดูแทบไม่รู้เลยว่าใช้มาสามสิบกว่าปี
Terminal 1 is Changi’s first terminal building, opened back in 1981 or more than 30 years ago. It was continuously renovated, with the latest and most extensive one completed last July. The results are pretty stunning. Did not realize that it has been there for 31 years!



มาที่เคาน์เตอร์เช็คอินของการบินไทยก่อนครับ ถึงจะมี boarding pass ขากลับแล้วก็มาถามให้มั่นใจก่อน แต่ดูแล้วแทบไม่รู้เลยว่าการบินไทยใช้ A380 มาที่นี่เป็นวันแรก นอกจากที่มีเจ้าหน้าที่หลายคนห้อยป้าย A380 พอถามถึงเกทที่ใช้ในวันนี้ เค้าก็บอกว่าเป็น D46 ครับ
Proceeded to TG check-in counter. Just for reassurance though since I already had the boarding pass. There was not any sign indicating the first day of TG A380 operations here, except, maybe, somewhat more standing ground staff hanging the ‘A380’ tags. I later learned from one of the staff that the plane would park at D46 today.

They said that Terminal 1 has the best viewing mall of all 3 terminals. Let’s go up the escalator.



ข้างบนนี้มีร้านอาหารให้เลือกเยอะมากๆๆๆ และคนเยอะกันทุกร้านด้วยครับ แต่ผมเก็บท้องไว้กินใน lounge ดีกว่า
Lots of restaurants, with lots of people on the way to the viewing mall.



ถึงแล้วครับ ที่นี่กว้างโล่งดี มีที่นั่งให้พอสมควร

มองออกไปก็เห็นเครื่องบินจำนวนหนึ่ง ไม่ได้เยอะมาก และการถ่ายรูปยังค่อนข้างยากเนื่องจากมีกระจกกั้น แต่อย่างน้อยก็เป็นแค่ชั้นเดียว ถ้ามาตอนกลางวันน่าจะถ่ายได้ดีกว่านี้ครับ
Quite a few airplanes were parking outside. I tried my best to avoid the reflections, resulting in limited viewing angle.
Fortunately, there is only single layer of glass, it should be easier to shoot from here during the day.

มองลงไปข้างล่าง ตรงนี้พื้นก็เป็นกระจก มองได้ทะลุถึงข้างล่าง
A (partially) transparent glass floor.



มองทะลุกระจกไปที่ด้าน airside โหมีเปียโนด้วยอ่ะ ถือว่าได้ตามคอนเซปต์ “Tropical City”
Looked through the glass panel toward the airside. There is even a piano!

Let’s move on to the airside.



พอเข้ามาแล้วก็เจอร้านเครื่องสำอาง Nuance Watson ผมเลยจัดการซื้อที่ดัดขนตาของ Shu Uemura (เพื่อนฝากซื้อนะครับ อย่าคิดเป็นอื่น ) ที่ใกล้ๆ ก็มีร้านกาแฟ The Coffee Bean ด้วย ผมนึกว่ามีแต่ที่มุมไบนะเนี่ย
After a quick pass through immigration (there was no queue). I stopped by the Nuance Watson Perfumes & Cosmetics to purchase something for my friend. There is also The Coffee Bean café nearby. Thought it was only in India lol.
(The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf café is a worldwide chain of coffee shops, I later learned)

Going upstairs to TG lounge. There is even a free internet corner here.



มองออกไปข้างนอก BA ลำนั้นก็ยังจอดอยู่ที่เดิมส่วนคุณดาวส้มออกไปนานแล้ว
The BA jumbo parked the same spot, while Jetstar A320 had already left.



ขึ้นลิฟท์ไปกันครับ (ที่จริงผมเดินผ่านบันไดเลื่อนทางขึ้นหลักมาแล้ว)

และเราก็มาถึง TG lounge ที่ชางงีแล้วครับ คราวที่แล้วยังไม่มีโอกาสได้ชมเพราะมาถึงช้า ต้องรีบไปขึ้นเครื่องก่อน มาวันนี้ยังเหลือเวลาอีกตั้งสองชั่วโมงก่อนเครื่องออกครับ
And here I arrived at the lounge. I had not visited this place before (last time I was at Changi I was a bit late, had to go directly to the gate).

This was the first place I saw a sign indicating the TG A380 debut anywhere in Changi.

The beverages bar with coffee, teas, juices, spirits and water provided. There is also a fridge containing Pepsi, beers, Schweppes, etc.

ที่นี่ยังมีตู้ใส่เบเกอรี่และของทอดด้วยครับ มีทั้งครัวซองต์ กุ้งชุบแป้งทอด และหัวกลอยหวานทอด ลองหยิบมากินก็อร่อยดีนะครับ แต่ตอนแรกผมหยิบหัวกลอยทอดมาโดยไม่รู้ว่าเป็นอะไรเลยราดน้ำจิ้มเผ็ดลงไป กินดูเลยได้รสชาติแปร่งๆ เพราะมันไม่เข้ากันอย่างแรง
A small oven containing some pastries and fried foods, including fried prawn and sweet yam covered in fried nest. The prawn was quite delicious but I picked a yam nest without knowing what it was and ate it with a spicy sauce. It tasted horrible.



มีบะหมี่ก่ึงสำเร็จรูปและแครกเกอร์ ซึ่งติดป้ายไว้เรียบร้อยว่าของสิงคโปร์แท้ๆ นะจ๊ะ
Instant noodles and crackers, with a sign ‘Product of Singapore’.



เลือกบะหมี่เมียวโจ้รสซีฟู้ดมาทาน อร่อยดีเหมือนกันนะครับ ระหว่างนี้ก็นั่งพักขาตัวเองหลังจากยืนเกือบทั้งวัน
I chose the seafood one. Tasted good.



หลังจากเครื่องออกมาได้พักหนึ่งผมก็นึกได้ว่าลืมถุงใส่ที่ดัดขนตาในรูปไว้ที่ lounge พอถึงสุวรรณภูมิแล้วจึงไปติดต่อที่ศูนย์แจ้งของหาย วันถัดมาของก็มาถึงครับ
I realized that I left my friend’s eyelash curler (pictured) at the lounge. I went to lost&found after arrival, did some paperworks and it arrived the next day.
