ขณะนี้เรากำลังบินผ่านนอกชายฝั่งรัฐยะโฮร์ มาเลเซีย
We were passing just offshore of Johor, Malaysia



แล้วเครื่องก็เลี้ยวซ้ายเข้าหาฝั่ง
Then the plane gently turned to the mainland.



ผ่านอะไรบางอย่างที่ดูเหมือนสวนปาล์ม อากาศวันนี้ค่อนข้างเทาๆ ขมุกขมัวครับ
Passed over what seemed to be a palm tree planting area. It was quite hazy today.

แล้วเครื่องก็เลี้ยวลงใต้อีกครั้ง หมายความว่าวันนี้เราจะลงสู่สนามบินจากทางเหนือ ซึ่งเป็นทิศที่ใช้เป็นปกติในช่วงกลางปีที่สิงคโปร์ครับ ระหว่างนี้คุณแอร์ก็เดินเช็คความเรียบร้อย
And the plane soon turned southward again. That means we were approaching the aerodrome from the north, a normal approach procedure during mid-year in Singapore. Meanwhile, the female FA passed by to check if everything was secured in place.

และบินลงต่ำเหนือช่องแคบยะโฮร์ เริ่มเห็นแผ่นดินสิงคโปร์แรกนั่นคือเกาะปูเลาอูบินครับ สถานที่ที่อนุรักษ์ไว้เป็นเหมือนสิงคโปร์เมื่อร้อยปีที่แล้ว ก่อนที่จะพัฒนาตึกรามบ้านช่องให้เป็นอย่างปัจจุบัน
Flying low above the Straits of Johor. Here I got the first glimpse of Singaporean soil in four years. The island here is called “Pulau Ubin” conserved to retain what Singapore had been a hundred years ago, before any large scale urban development.

ในที่สุดเครื่องก็แตะพื้นเมื่อเวลา 11.20 วันนี้เราลงจอดที่รันเวย์ 20R ซึ่งเป็นรันเวย์ลงจอดหลัก ก่อนลงจะเห็น Changi Beach Park ที่ผมจะมาดูเครื่องบินในวันนี้ด้วยครับ
And finally at 11.20 AM, the plane touched down on 20R, the main runway for landings. Changi Beach Park was also clearly visible. I would be there in a few hours.

ถ้าดูดีๆ จะเห็น 747 สีเขียวๆ จอดอยู่ จากนั้นคุณลุงอินเดียก็ถามผมว่าเครื่องอะไร ผมก็ตอบว่าไม่รู้เหมือนกันครับ ไม่เคยเห็น
If you watch it closely, you may see a green 747 parked at the AFB. The Indian guy next to me then asked me if I know what it was. And I said I didn’t know, it was the first time I saw it too!

พอลงมาถึงก็เห็นเจ้าถิ่นจอดอยู่ที่เทอร์มินัล 3 ก่อนเป็นอันดับแรก แถมเป็น A380 ด้วย ลำนี้เพิ่งกลับมาจากปารีสเมื่อเช้าครับ
As soon as we turned out of the runway, Singapore Airlines’ planes at Terminal 3 immediately came into view. This A380 just arrived from Paris earlier in the morning.

Chainarai then turned towards the gate at Terminal 1. An SQ plane was parked not too far away. SQ 832 to Shanghai.

เวลา 11.25 เครื่องก็จอดสนิทที่เกท C20 ไม่นานก็เริ่มให้ผู้โดยสารชั้นธุรกิจลงก่อน ผมจับมือบอกลาคุณลุงอินเดียข้างๆ ก่อนลากันลุงแกก็ถามว่า
At exactly 11.25 AM, Chainarai came to a stop at gate C20. Royal Silk Class passenger were allowed to deboard thereafter. I shook my hand with the Indian guy, whom asked :
“How many photos did you take today?”
“Well, a hundred maybe.” I answered
“Oh well” he laughed “Have I nice day in Singapore!”
“Thank you, wish you a pleasant stay too”

พอลุงแกเดินไปแล้วผมก็หันกลับมาถ่ายรูปที่นั่งของตัวเอง จริงๆ ก็นั่งสบายดีเหมือนกันนะครับ ผมลองปรับเอนจนสุดก็รู้สึกว่านอนได้สบายดี ไม่ไหลด้วยแม้จะไม่ได้เอนราบแบบรุ่นใหม่ก็ตาม ส่วนเรื่ององค์ประกอบต่างๆ นั้นผมขอไม่ลงรายละเอียดมากนะครับ เนื่องจากมีหลายท่านได้ทำรีวิวไว้แล้ว
ระหว่างนี้ก็ปิด Airplane Mode และเปิด 3G วันนี้ผมสมัครแพ็คเกจ Unlimited 1 วัน 350 บาทของ AIS ไว้แล้ว โดยต้องใช้ของเครือข่าย SingTel เท่านั้นครับ
Then I took a quick shot of my seat. It was quite comfortable actually. Maybe not fully flat like the new ones but I am sure I will have a good night sleep on this seat. I will not elaborate much on the seat components since it has been reviewed tens of times already.
I turned off the Airplane Mode and switch 3G on. I had already bought an unlimited 3G package for one day use in Singapore (with SingTel only). At 350 Thai Baht, it was quite a bargain.

ก่อนจะลงก็ขอถ่ายรูปกับคุณแอร์ที่ให้บริการแถวผมในวันนี้ก่อนครับ ระหว่างเสิร์ฟอาจจะเครียดไปบ้างเล็กน้อยแต่ตอนที่ไปคุยด้วยก็น่ารักและเป็นกันเองดีครับ
The flight attendant serving my row today. She might be a bit too stressed during meal service. But after a brief chat at the galley, I found her (and other crew members) quite charming and friendly. Thanks for such a great service on this short flight.

ได้เวลาเดินไปที่ตรวจคนเข้าเมืองแล้วครับ Terminal 1 เพิ่งปรับปรุงเสร็จหมาดๆ มาได้ไม่กี่เดือน รู้สึกได้ว่าบรรยากาศเปลี่ยนไปจากตอนมาครั้งที่แล้วเมื่อสี่ปีก่อน
Terminal 1 just finished its major makeover months ago. I quite felt the difference from what I experienced four years ago.



แม้แต่ป้าย Arrival ก็ยังทำเป็นกำแพงมีชีวิต
Even an arrival sign is part of the 'live' wall.

นึกดูก็อยากไปดู Terminal 3 เหมือนกันนะครับ ผมจึงเดินไปที่เคาน์เตอร์ประชาสัมพันธ์ใกล้ๆ
I have always wanted to see the new Terminal 3, so I walk to the nearest information counter.
“Good morning”
“Good morning, sir” an Indian-looking agent replied
“I have one question to ask. Is it possible for me to go through immigration at Terminal 3”
“Do you have any checked luggage?”
“Ah, no”
“So it’s perfectly okay. Just turn left and take the skytrain”
“Ah, thank you so much”
“You’re welcome, sir”

สรุปว่าถ้าเราไม่มีกระเป๋าโหลดก็สามารถผ่านการตรวจหนังสือเดินทางและศุลกากรที่อาคารอื่นเลยครับ ผมจึงขึ้น skytrain ที่แล่นเสียงโกร่งๆ กร่างๆ ไป ใจก็คิดว่า Terminal 3 ที่เค้าว่าดีนักดีหนานี่จะเป็นนังไงกันนะ
So I got on a skytrain (that operates noisily), thinking what the “critically acclaimed” Terminal 3 would be like....

พอมาถึง สิ่งแรกที่ผมรู้สึกคือ ที่นี่ช่างกว้าง โล่ง และเงียบจัง ผมชอบที่ผู้ออกแบบใช้สีโทนสบายตาแบบนี้จังครับ
My first impression was wow, this is such a huge, bright and quiet place. I really like the use of the earth tone colors. That is definitely my type.



ลงบันไดเลื่อนไปที่ immigration ทำไมมันไม่มีึคนเลยล่ะเนี่ย!!
Took an escalator down to the immigration. Where is everybody?!

ผมเดินไปที่เคาน์เตอร์ซึ่งมีเจ้าพนักงานประจำอยู่ (เห็นตะกี้ยังเมาท์กับเพื่อนอยู่เลย) พอเห็นว่าผมไม่ได้เขียนที่อยู่ในสิงคโปร์และเขียนว่าอยู่แค่วันเดียว จึงพูดขึ้นมาว่า
I walked to the nearest staffed counter. When the agent saw that the ‘address in Singapore’ was left blank and ’01’ in ‘length of stay’ box, she asked :
“So you’re going to stay in Singapore for only one day?”
“Exactly”
“Do you have the return ticket?”
“Yes” (reaching my bag to bring out the ticket, just in case)
“Okay” she stamped my passport, without asking any further.
“Thank you” I grabbed mine and inserted it into my pocket “Why there’s no other passengers?”
“They will arrive here soon” she answered, grinned, and gave a sign that I could leave.

พอเดินมาถึงบริเวณรับกระเป๋าก็อึ้งอีกรอบ มีน้ำตกด้วยครับ ไม่เคยเห็นสนามบินที่ไหนมีแบบนี้
Here I was amazed again. It was surprisingly bright, spacey and quiet. There was even a waterfall which exuded a great sense of tranquility. I have never seen anything like this in an airport.

ตอนที่ 2 : ตามหาคุณสิงโตพ่นน้ำ
Part 2 : A Quest for The Water-Spouting Lion, With A Fish Tail

ผมตั้งใจว่าถึงจุดประสงค์หลักของทริปนี้คือการมาดูเครื่องบิน แต่ยังไงก็ต้องไปถ่ายรูปกับสัญสักษณ์ของสิงคโปร์นั่นคือ Merlion ให้ได้ก่อนครับ จะได้เป็นหลักฐานว่ามาสิงคโปร์แล้วจริงๆ
มองซ้ายขวาหาทางลงไปสถานี MRT ทำไมที่นี่ช่างเงียบสงบจัง
Even the main purpose of this trip was planespotting, at least I should go to see the symbol of Singapore, the Merlion, to signify that I have really been in Singapore.
Trying to find a sign leading to the MRT station. Why this place is so quiet?



แม้แต่คิวขึ้นแท็กซี่ก็ว่าง
No queue at all at the taxi stand.



อ้าวอยู่นี่เอง ให้เดินไปจนสุดทางด้านขวาครับ ให้สังเกตว่าที่นี่มีป้ายทั้งหมด 4 ภาษา ได้แก่อังกฤษ จีน มาเลย์และญี่ปุ่นครับ
Oh it’s here. Just walk a bit to the right.
See that the signs are written in 4 languages, including English, Chinese, Bahasa Malaysia and Japanese.

จากนั้นผมก็ซื้อตั๋วไปสถานี Raffles Place ที่ตู้อัตโนมัติ (ที่นี่เรียกว่า GTM - General Ticketing Machine) ค่าโดยสาร 2.10 ดอลลาร์โดยมีค่ามัดจำเพิ่มอีก 1 ดอลลาร์ เมื่อถึงที่หมายให้คืนบัตรที่ตู้นี้ก็จะได้เงิน 1 ดอลลาร์คืนมาครับ (SGD1 ~ THB25)
Purchased my single trip ticket to Raffles Place at the GTM. The fare was SGD3.10, with $1 deposit included. Once you arrive at your respective destination, just insert the card to ticket machine and it returns the deposit.

What a big place this station is. How can I compare this with the ARL station at Suvarnabhumi?

Seemed like newer trains were used on Tanah Merah - Changi runs.

แล้วก็มาต่อรถสาย East-West Line ที่สถานี Tanah Merah อากาศข้างนอกร้อนใช้ได้ทีเดียว แต่คนไทยอย่างเราเจออากาศร้อนเป็นประจำอยู่แล้ว ชิลๆ ครับ (แต่อยู่นานๆ ก็ไม่ไหวเหมือนกันนะ )
Changed to East-West line at Tanah Merah Interchange. It was quite hot and humid. But for Thai people, we are more than accustomed to hot climate (we do have our limits, though )



การออกแบบสถานีนี้ก็แปลกดี มีรางสาย EW ขนาบสองข้าง (นึกถึงสถานีสยาม) และมีรางสายไปชางงีอยู่ตรงกลาง พอรถไฟสายชางงีมาก็สามารถเดินข้ามฝั่งชานชาลาได้ครับ
Tanah Merah Interchange has EW line rails on both sides and Changi line rail is at the center. So when Changi line train arrives, you can easily walk across the platform.

นั่งรถไฟได้อีกราว 20 นาที ผ่าน 9 สถานีก็ถึงย่านธุรกิจอย่าง Raffles Place แล้วครับ มีตึกสูงเต็มไปหมด ดูเหมือนว่าส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นของสถาบันการเงิน ที่ผมเดินผ่านก็มีอย่าง Standard Chartered และ Bank of China (BOC)
After a 20-minute train ride, I arrived at Raffles Place. Lots of skyscrapers here, and most of them seemed to be hosting financial institutions. I walked past at least two of them, like Standard Chartered and Bank of China.

และผมก็มาถึง Merlion แล้วครับ ใช้เวลาเดินทางประมาณหนึ่งชั่วโมงนับตั้งแต่ผ่านจุดตรวจพาสปอร์ต ทุกอย่างก็ยังคงเหมือนที่ผมจำได้จากเมื่อสี่ปีก่อน ต่างที่วันนี้ผมมาคนเดียวครับ
And finally, I arrived at the Merlion, almost exactly an hour since I left the passport control. Everything was similar to what I remembered from 4 years ago. The only different thing was, of course, I was alone today.

Looked toward Marina Bay. The Conrad Centennial Hotel, where I had stayed with parents, was also visible.



Singapore Flyer ผมเคยขึ้นเจ้านี่แล้วครับ คราวนี้ขอบาย
I have been on this one before. Maybe next time (when I do not have to pay on my own )

เกือบบ่ายโมงแล้ว ได้เวลาเดินทางต่อแล้วครับ ก่อนลาจากก็หันไปถ่ายภาพ Merlion อีกครั้ง รูปนี้เหมือนเจ้าสิงโตเงือกกำลังถ่มน้ำใส่เรือ MBS อยู่เลยนะครับ
1 PM was approaching. Maybe it’s time to move on. I looked back and took this photo. Looks like Merlion was spitting water to destroy the MBS! lol.

Even the bridge poles was clean.
